Marbury's under contract to play basketball for the Knicks. Since he refused to play he should lose/be fined? for 1 game's salary! I hope Donnie does this and let's see what Marbury does when he doesn't get "all of His Money."

i'm sure he's gonna come up w/some BS story about how he had permission to decline to play tonite.
I don't buy it if he does. It must have been a lot of pride to swallow for D'Antoni to even ask Marbury to play. D'A is very proud and a hot-tempered general. So I think Donnie must have first talked with D'A to approve this and convince D'A to ask Marbury. Fine Marbury double!!

figured he'd recycle the same excuse he used when he walked out on this team last season after his little tiff w/Isiah...

"Mike said I had the option to play if I wanted to... I looked up the word "option" in the dictionary & it says there that it's a choice, meaning I didn't have to say yes... which to me means I had permission to say no... so I did... & that's why I declined to play the other night... so all you guys in the media can twist that any way you want to, but I'm at a good place in my life & my sister feels good in my arms & her lips taste just as sweet as last year. Thank you."

Marbury is a moron and he's been wrong so many times but this isn't one of them. D'Antoni doesn't tell him anything coming into the season and benches him the first few games. Then Walsh steps in, pretending that this is the first he's heard of it and they tell Marbury that he's not part of their plans and will be inactive indefinitely. Now the Knicks are shorthanded for a game and they tell Marbury they want him to play? Who wouldn't tell them "Thanks but no thanks"?

What if Marbury is very rusty and has a really poor game, after which he goes back to the inactive list. Does that help him any? I don't blame Marbury for this one. And it's a lame move for D'Antoni to let it be known that he offered Marbury a chance to play for one night and Marbury was the one who turned it down.

The question is: Did they really wanted to play Marbury? Or did they expect him to react this way and have more arguments against him?

“MARBURY GETS THE LAST WORD”

Wow.
Maybe that’s not strong enough to illustrate this moment in Knicks history.
Wow!!!
I know what you’re thinking, but the limits of good taste prevent me from hitting the keys my fingers are reaching for right now.
Did you hear what I heard? Stephon Marbury didn’t want to play against the Bucks? Really?
“When the trade went down this afternoon, I sat down with him and I said, ‘Look Steph, one of the principles is gone, Jamal Crawford, there’s 30-35 minutes out there and they’re yours if you want them. Are you ready?’ ” Mike D’Antoni noted. “He said the direction of the team went in a different direction. He wasn’t comfortable with the situation and he did not want to play.”
Huh?
“The only thing I’m at liberty to say is that I was told they were moving forward and I’m not the person who chooses who plays and who doesn’t,” Marbury responded.
It seems that somebody isn’t being truthful.
Who are you going to believe? Go ahead, vent. Do you think Marbury should even be allowed to sit on the bench now?

It's spelle "consistent", not "consistant". That being said, Marbury is a selfish ****. He should never be allowed to wear a Knicks uniform again.

I hate to say it, I agree with his position. Its ok though. At least he is being consistant. He likely would not play well and the potential for injury. He has no passion left for the team.

Im cool with him not playing.

So management can tell you that you're not in the plans and will be inactive indefinitely but it's on the player if he doesn't accept a token one night stint until Mobley gets here?

D'Antoni should not have offered Marbury playing time in this manner. It doesn't matter what Marbury did last year or the year before. He got jerked around this season and this was another jerk around type of maneuver.

Fair is fair. Either a player is part of the plan in one way or another and playing or he isn't. If D'Antoni wanted him to be part of the team going forth he should have made that clear.

Marbury may have poor character, but he was well within his rights to refuse to play. D'Antoni does not have the right to walk all over Marbury, and he should have kept quiet about the exchange if he really wasn't mad.

It is spelled "spelled", not "spelle". Don't you think it is amusing that you are correcting the spelling of others and you can't even spell the word spelled correctly?

I thought the very same thing. It's a great move if you ask me.

A nice way to get out of the filthy, dirty contract that's eating us alive.

All this gamesmanship, speculation, stonewalling, secrecy, setups and controversy is completely consistent with Marbury's entire tenure here. This isn't something new, it's more of the same.

It's almost easy to let oneself feel sorry for Marbury, but when one gets in touch with reality they realize he could take a buyout and get paid the difference by another team, and net just as much money to be playing as he is to be brooding (all that's missing is the towel on his head) on the bench and causing the distraction he says he doesn't want to cause.

Steph, take the buyout. Your stock is not rising. You haven't played well in years. You haven't even logged good minutes in years. You're coming off of surgery. Your current organization hates you. Every organization has hated you. Cutting off your nose to spite your face by not accepting a buyout is not helping your cause.

Stop trying to hold the franchise hostage and get your arse out of NY already.

Edited for spelling, since we're being graded now.

Wow! You must have missed the last several years of the Marbury antics. He single handedly wreck this team. Have you noticed how much better they were playing without him for instance?

Okay. Why is it that the Knicks don't want Marbury anymore? Is it anyone's fault but his own? No. It's his fault. And if they're paying you 17M or whatever it is this year, you can play for 35 minute and pretend to be everything your not while cashing those checks.

I fail to see your point. That has absolutely nothing to do with what happened tonight.

This is So Not Swell.

Coward move by both parties.

Except the player was given liberty to be a Coward, whereas the suits Chose to be one in this case.

He never should have been asked to play.

Is Mobley, Tim, and Harrington part of the future?

Will they be given Inactive Minutes?

Will they have to wait until a trade is made to be given the choice to play Lions Share Minutes?

Mobley isn't feeling Groovy about playing here.
