Let it be for Malik, then we can start Harrington over Q...Duhon, Crawford, Harrington, Chandler, Randolph sounds great to me. And it also doesnt ruin our 2010 plan.

I would rather see Harrington play SG than Crawford

I'd rather see Jerome James play SG instead of Crawful.

It would be best for us if it were either Crawful or McCurry being sent out to get rid of their 2011s but it probably is for Malik's expiring. Although wouldn't that be a ripoff on the Warrior's end? Al's not a total bum you'd think they want something of value for him.

I wonder if this opens the door for Steph? Didn't they say barring an injury or trade he'd sit?

something about this deal seems fishy to me.

also, if the deal is straight Al for Malik... we now have to find minutes for ZBO, DLee, Chandler, Harrington and soon Jefferies in the front court.

I guess it might be one of those situations where you scoop up talent on the cheap and figure it out later. it's certainly an extra shooter, but it doesn't help any of the major problems we've been having re: interior defense.

A long shot would be Marbury being reactivated.
Another point is Bellineli would likely come back since he's been long rumored to be traded East - the Nets/GS deal fell through - GS wants him gone as well so I think he comes back.

Most likely we slide Q to SG, Wilson to SF, Al starts at PF.

And even though that kills some shot creation off of 1-1 dribble it opens up our 2011 cap, it resolves the Crawford situation (streaky guard who you live or die by,,,,and,,,his will he wont he opt out)

Another thought is who goes out? Does Lee go to GS in this with a pick coming back as well? It's a thought!!!!

...too much to speculate on so I guess just wait and see. It's going to happen today apparently - the Knicks and Warriors are supposdely talking with the league this morning to finalize the trade.

I agree. All he did was speculate. He had no source...

Knicks close to dealing for Al Harrington

BY ALAN HAHN | alan.hahn@newsday.com
7:45 AM EST, November 21, 2008

The Knicks appear to be close to landing athletic forward Al Harrington from the Golden State Warriors in a trade that possibly could send the team's leading scorer, Jamal Crawford, out to Oakland, Newsday has learned.

Details of the deal were only starting to slip out late last night and the only concrete piece of information so far is that the Knicks were getting Harrington, who Knicks president Donnie Walsh, while with the Indiana Pacers, drafted out of St. Patrick's High School in Elizabeth, N.J., in 1998. Harrington before the season had demanded a trade from the Warriors after a falling out with coach Don Nelson.

If Bellineli is in the deal, then I like the move alittle more, but say what you want about Crawford, when he is hot, he carries this team. Without him, the Knicks are going to lose alot of offensive punch. A harrington for Rose deal is decent. Harrington for Crawford is alot riskier unless the only thing we are concerned about is getting under the cap in 2010.

3 Team Deal?

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/11/threeway_deal.html

Just heard this seconds ago...

The Knicks, Warriors and Clippers are talking about a three-way deal that would involve Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being sent in a cap-space clearing move that would bring in Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Al Harrington.

The contracts on all three incoming players expire in 2010.

Trying to confirm this now.

Stay tuned . . .

And when he's cold we're toast. Again, you just can't build a winning team on the back of such a player, you will never go far like that.

While we would probably feel the pinch at SG as a result the bottom line is this would be a move for the future not for the present.

In the present again you then give Wilson the starting SF position. Q slides to the 2 but you will see a lot more of Nate at the 2 who is also capable of getting a hot hand.

I don't think you'd see such a big drop off.

I also don't believe this is a team to build a winner on so if it were Malik for Harrington - it's just another Isiah "We traded crap for talent!" trade that really doesn't solve any problems only complicates them.

Acquiring Al also means Lee gets pinched in playing time so either he goes in this deal or he's about to get flipped once this deal is completed.

So there might be more to this than we know.

First thing's first, let's see this trade get done, and see who it was for.

All we really know? Al Harrington is on the verge of becoming a Knick.

I hope there is a prospect or two included... Randolph is the only player whose contract I'm sure will be past 2010.

Well, at least I know I don't have to watch the Knicks anymore and can't start rooting for ping pong balls again.

Harrington has talent, which is more than what Rose had left, but really how does this trade help us? While I think Harrington has the ability to be a solid defender, he has never really emphasized that aspect of his game. He is going to need shots and I question whether he can really play center. So Chandler may get fewer minutes, which I see as a real negative. This seems awfully like an IT move. Just obtain talent and don't worry about the consequences. I guess it is hard to argue with the deal since we gave up virtually nothing for a guy who can play, but I doubt this is going to improve the team significantly.

This trade will not impact Chandler in the least. Remember, Chandler is playing the 4 and 3. I think this trade will do a few things.

1. It opens up the possibility of moving Lee sooner rather than later.
2. Q will probably go to the bench.
3. When Jeffries comes back, does he start at the 5? If so, does Chandler go to the bench?
4. Gallo will probably shut it down for the rest of the year.

HOLY CRAP IF THIS IS TRUE THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!

Walsh would redeem himself BIG TIME from all the hate he got for not dropping Randolph over the summer! (Yeah, I was one who was ticked off that didn't happen)

Damn, now the anticipation is murdering me!!!

UGH! People realize that if Randolph goes, Eddy Curry is going to log minutes, right?

That is a great big dump! Excellent!

We have proven you can't win with Craw. He won't opt out unless someone gives him an extension. And if he does, it make him tradable now.

Zach has value now. We are not giving up any picks to dump him.

TT again? Cat? Harrington? All guys that can run and gun, and are "hired" for the short term. All guys that don't win, but have value the closer to their expiring too.

Be patient. This is one of many moves that will happen before 2010. It won't all come together at once. Walsh knows what he is doing.
