Thank you Pharz.

My mistake, I just counted each year on his profile, not regarding him playing for 2 teams in a year.

Do The Math

JrZyHuStLa - c'mon, if Ariza was drafted by Isiah Thomas, (who was hired in December 2003) how in hell can this be his seventh year? Sheesh.

The point being, while people are clamoring for Patrick Ewing Jr, I'd take Trevor Ariza back in a heartbeat.

I'd give Ewing the chance. I don't think Ariza will ever be more than a 10-12 point scorer per game. Ewing might be worse, who knows ? But the Knicks should take a chance like that on a backup SF.

No doubt but he's gone thanks to Larry. But tkf is right, as much as I am down on the Gallinari pick. If he was selected as your guy you have to wait on him. If D'Antoni already penciled in Chandler as his 4 and appears he has done just that then that helps Gallinari out because he play the position that he seems more comfortable at the 3 spot. D'Antoni is lucky that Chandler is a hybrid forward in the mold of Marion that can play both positions effectively. The problem right now is whether you can depend on Gallinari's health but I think you have to find that out before you make a move right now.

Checkmate

Walsh has the challenge of making several cash-complicated chess moves to transform 5 players on the back burner into tasty dishes.

If he can magically morph Marbury, Curry, Jerome James, QRich, and eventually Malik Rose into just two players who can make significant contributions, I will personally be The Grand Marshall in his parade down Seventh Avenue.

I have to say I'm shocked people are calling for jeffries (j skinny) yet another zeke signing.

For some reason chandler seems like a SF to me.

Jeffries defense in the post and 6' 11" length would give us the appearance of defensive shot bloc... Well shot altering.

With a starting 5 of zbo, jskinny, chandler, duhon and a on Crawford. Coupled with a strong bench of lee, Nate, pejr and (insert here) and I'm happy to enjoy the ride to 2010.

Last night was a fun game to be at. 68 first half points?

My buddy kept saying it's Oklahoma. But it was still fun.

Who knows. We may already have what we need.

Would curry for camby keep us within our 2010 plan?

Make it happen. Make trades that help us now and don't hurt the big plan. But my point is that this good start shouldn't make us forget that plan and simply focus on retooling. But right now its true, an improvement at SF and C should do the trick and get us a better shot at the playoffs sthis season. That would be an amazing first step for this franchise, but lets wait and see...

Relax man...seriously. We've already had the 2010 discussion already.

In my opinion, we are simply mediocre if we don't get under the cap and try to sign ANY of the MANY guys who will be available that summer. We talk about LeBron but there's Wade, Amare, Bosh, Tyson Chandler(shot blocker with Randolph, eh?), Dirk, TJ Ford, Yao, Ginobili, Joe Johnson, Raja Bell, Rip, Redd and the list goes on and on. Not all these guys are superstars but then of course you can split up the money and get 2 good guys instead of 1 great one.

Right now the team is playing well but nowhere near elite level. Nowhere near. I can imagine if the Knicks won 40 games, people would be talking about winning the title.

Do not lose sight of the biggest picture and IMO the real picture of winning an NBA title. We don't need "1 or 2 more things." We need a lot of things. Consistency, defense, hustle, outside shooting and a superstar who can take over a game when we need him to. No not Crawford. A real superstar.

fluff....

whats wrong with saying this group needs one or two more reinforcements for now? Nobody said add another bad contract. I'm saying add a guy like Harrington or maybe Marion....those guys contracts dont effect 2010. Gerald Wallace's contract extends 5 years but the dude is still a nice talent that could be used in a sign and trade if need be for 2010.....its 2008 now.....the Knicks in the present day need help.

If curry, marbury, qrich, malik rose and jerome turned into camby and the matrix with a sprinkle of Ewing Jr I'd be pretty content. I say camby but I really mean harrington. :)

The Answer Man Flips Down His Rose Tinted Flip-Up Shades

Q. babyknicks - is jeffries at center and moving chandler to SF enough of an upgrade?

A. Not necessarily. But the return of Jeffries means we suffer fewer scary delusions of Malik Rose playing like he is World B Free and hoisting any more ridiculous three pointers.

I can't believe I'm saying this because I've been raining on the Knickerbockers' parade for so long. But I agree. I think with marginal upgrades the team can and will make the playoffs. I went to the Utah game and for the first time in years, the team *looked* like a team. They were moving in concert, moving, spacing, etc. They were putting a collective effort on defense. It was nice to see.

But I don't want to lose sight of the fact that the objective is to win a championship. And I don't see that with this group.

Thats a nice start and if its the only one that can be done, so be it. It was D'Antoni's plan all along, to have Jeffries start at Center. He is an improvement defensively. Now, will D'Antoni start Chandler at SF? That I don't know. He should, but he may be more comfortable bringing Chandler off the bench. It may not matter if he still gets starter-like minutes.

Now For The Good News

"But I don't want to lose sight of the fact that the objective is to win a championship. And I don't see that with this group."

SupremeCommander - think of the roster as a constantly changing organism. We have no idea how this new chemical equation plays out until, at the earliest, late February.

Change is inevitable. Even for the guys that stick around. In one more year the starting point guard will not need a "hello my name is.." name tag and his running podnuh will be more a disciplined player to be named later. Even if his name is Jamal Crawford.

The lottery pick will have solved his back pain or a Summer League standout will have stolen his projected minutes. The Mayor, coming off a breakout sophomore season, will be ready to flourish in his junior year - and the warrior-like, locker room cancer will be on the All Star ballot after a memorable 20-10 the previous year.

The former all star homeboy guard will be history and Eddy Curry will have been included in a blockbuster trade deadline deal for the ages that involves seven players, including David Lee.

First round Draft pick, skill forward Victor Claver or Earl Clark ('sup Rahway) makes QRich expendable.

You heard it here first.

A Recipe For Three Bold Moves

1. I'm thinking a clone of Tayshaun Prince would be perfect. As much as Quentin Richardson has tried to hold it down, the position in this system demands more than a barely average 6'6 can offer. Lebron ain't coming anytime soon. Patrick Ewing Jr is raw but he will not have any problems with effort.

I miss Trevor Ariza

2. Now, visualize Jeffries getting Malik Rose's minutes.

3. Step three, an ambulatory 6'11 type (think healthy Marcus Camby or vintage Sheed) is plugged in for Jerome James the instant his medical exemption kicks in.

Let simmer for 5 minutes

#1 - Time out, chief. What happened to Chandler at SF? You were his biggest supporter, and I still think that's where he belongs. Have you soured on him just when his stock is taking off?

#2 - Y'all have short memories. It won't take long for everyone to remember just how bad JJ2 is when he gets back. Balkman was better than him in every aspect and we traded him for a 2nd rounder. Should have kept him, and traded JJ2 for a garbage bag of recyclable cans.

#3 - Amen to that. Make it happen.

If it were that easy to trade a contract like JJ2's, we would've done that a long time ago. But other than his contract, he is a nice player. Bad shooter, we remember that, but very good defensively and for this team may be a nice option at C.
