How is this Marbury's fault? He said nothing was going on and that is not controversial at all. We always blame him for opening his mouth. He didn't say anything at all. I think that was a good move. I don't want to keep him in NY even though I really like his game. I agree with cutting him, buying him out or trading him but that interview was handled well IMO.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Walsh: So how's the family
Marbury: Good
Walsh: Did you catch the game the other night?
Marbury: Yeah, I had a pretty good seat
Walsh: Ok great, let's do this again real soon

Marbury is always a good topic. What would we do if he actually did leave the team.

Become fans again?

Seriously, if both morons are gone, it may even be possible to root for the team again.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

from ALan Hahn
Marbury: 'Nothing's going on'
ESPN Radio's Andrew Marchand -- a loyal Fixer, as you all know and a hard-working field reporter -- caught Stephon Marbury this morning at the team's shoot around and confronted him about the reports that he and the Knicks are working toward a buyout.

Here is the transcript. The interview aired on ESPN Radio this morning.

Marchand: What’s your hope coming out of the meeting with Donnie?

Marbury: “Nothing’s going on right now.”

Marchand: Berman wrote you were discussing a buyout and it could be done within the next week:

Marbury: “Nothing is going on.”

Marchand: So the story is wrong?

Marbury: “Nothing’s going on right now”

Marchand: Did you meet with Donnie?

Marbury: “Yeah, I met with Donnie. Nothing’s going on. Everything’s the same.”

Marchand: Do you expect anything to change in the near future?

Marbury: “I don’t know.”

Marchand: Did you ask Donnie if you can talk to other teams?

Marbury: “Nothing is going on right now.”

Marchand: How should I take that as?

Marbury: “Write what you wanna write and say what you wanna say. I don’t know. Nothing’s going on right now.”

Marchand: Was that the first time you guys have met since the summer?

Marbury: “That was the first time we met where we were talking.”

The interview ended there.

god almighty it will never end lol

Isn't it interesting that everyone has the impression that Donnie wanted to give Steph the chance to play and potentially improve his value but at the same time you hear "this is the 1st time we've met where we were talking".

That seems to indicate that Donnie has also been playing hard ball with Steph all along as well.

Donnie basically saying - you're an asset - if you get in shape I'll play you to improve your value..otherwise I don't want to talk to you because you are not in my plans other than to get something back for you.

Walsh and D'Antoni had little reason to hardball Marbs other than the rest of the team must have destroyed him in their offseason meetings

I think the situation bothers the fans more than it bothers the players. At least at this moment I don't think it's much of a distraction. I think it's all about money. Marbs isn't in the plans here and they don't want to pay him the full amount. So they are going to just wait him out. At the moment it's not hurting the team at all.

And I know you agree with me that that is a terrible thing. We can't let the players be making these kinds of decisions. This is just what they did to LB, now they are doing it to Marbs.

I know you don't approve of that sort of thing.

WTFF are you talking about? Players aren't making any decision, just speaking their mind on a teammate that has obviously let them down, been a distraction and nothing but trouble for them. Its a team you build in a franchise, and therefore every part has the right to speak their minds. Im sure not all the players seeing action right now are best buddies, but they understand team play and on the court they play like that. They protect each other and help each other, not betray them or try to center all the attention on an individual player. I care sh!t about what Marbury thinks. He created this, he is nothing but getting what he brought to him.

Look how good a team can be when they are united? Forget the record, we are actually playing decently, we are exciting again and we are showing how much we are learning. Thats amazing considering our state last season. Marbury was supposed to be the star and the one to elevate his team but on the court he was too selfish and loved to create controversies. This is the last one, finally, and its to end his sorry tenure as a Knick.

Good riddance...

I agree with you. I can't wait until the day Marbs is finally gone, and Jerome James is back in the line-up. That day as fans we can finally stand up and say that we are proud.
