First of all in this system there is no real center there is just forward's and guard's, that's why Lee and Zach have been our centers, not because Curry is not ready or James is not playing, because james is healthy to play but they don't want him, just like they don't want Marbs or Curry.
There is also rumblings of interest in Curry by the Spurs and the Heat.
CURRY COOKING: Eddy Curry met briefly with his agent, Leon Rose, before last night's game. Curry has been sidelined since the second game of the season with a bruised right knee. He is expected to be out another two weeks.
D'Antoni had removed Curry from the rotation before the Knick season opener.
There is interest in the center from the Spurs and Heat. Miami may be willing to trade D'Antoni favorite Shawn Marion, but a potential deal with Curry is complicated because their salaries don't match.

Now if this trade is gonna happen then I say include Rose's expiring contract to get Marion, plus Marion's contract ends this season, then we pick up Ewing Jr, and we got a nice team. I know your saying what happens to Lee, Chandler, and Zach or even Jefferies?.
Look at it this way, we will have a stacked team, if we have any injuries we don't miss a beat, Mike D will figure out who to play and who to sit.
If we get rid of Curry's contract then that is worth picking up Marion for a season, it gives us more tradeable assets and clears up some cap room for 2010.
It's better than taking on Wallace or Harrington.

Anyone who says we need Jerome James is either kidding or simply out of their minds. We haven't needed him since he arrived. He just took advantage of stupid Isiah and his timely playing on the playoffs for the Sonics. He just showed he could play and jumped on the first offer avaliable and unfortunately for us it was Isiah's. Ahh, I can't wait for him to be out of the Knicks.

And if this comments are real, then lets see: we need a shot-blocker. James could help if he actually cared for playing basketball, but he only cares for being the first in line at McDonalds, so don't bother worrying. And as for the center, we need one that can play in D'Antoni's system. Its obvious he can't.

Oh he we go. As soon as someone realizes that I am right about Jerome they bring out the personal insults.......So you are saying I am out of my mind because I understand how important it is to have Jerome. You never answered the question, what do we do if Zach gets hurt? What if we do if Jared is still hurt. Where are we then? We are in the same place we were before Isiah went out and made the signing. A team without a center. Every team needs a center, and we have one. I just hope the man gets healthy soon because Zach's knee could go out any minute. Although if this happened my guess is that Jerome would probably ask to come back early from his injury just so he can help the team.

Your argument is flawed because Zach is slow too. So why would he be better at center than Jerome? Every team needs a center, that is why he was signed. And now we have one. I will go nuts if this team cuts Jerome

Marion has been horrible this season. I watch most of their games.

Marion is averaging 10pts, 8 rebounds in 35 minutes. The reason why there is trade talks is because how bad he has been. I watch Chandler outplay him in the home opener and I thought it was a bad sign for the Matrix's season. Now he has had injuries to his groin which he has had throughout his career. I don't count his broke nose. I am rooting for him but I wouldn't take him on my team right now.

Bip is a jackass. That's not personal, it's fact.

He has a point though, Watching Chandler jump ball at midcourt is getting ridiculous. D'Antoni needs to let either Curry or James get some minutes. I don't want to see Duhon guarding Boozer in the post anymore.

No way we can let Jerome go. We NEED A CENTER!!!!!!!!

And he qualifies how? Because of his size and shape? Saying he is a center implies he is a basketball player. I say to you, NO, he is not a center.

[/soap box]

You're crazy. What If Zach gets hurt. Then who is going to play center????? I didn't think you had an answer to that one. Injuries are inevitable and we need him on our bench. Anyone that does not agree with me will be eating their words

I'm crazy? Well, then, you're insane. I mean, Shaq couldn't even figure out how to properly play in MDA's offense. You think Jerome James, who will either (1) foul out in 15 minutes o (2) pull a hamstring before he fouls out will make a difference? He's just going to karate chop and take up space, especially on the offensive end. You think anyone on offense will be able to drive with his wide girth taking up space? Or how about the fact he'll get called for two or three fouls right whenever he comes into the game, putting the Knicks over the limit, and this defensively challenged unity will then put the other team to the line, getting even easier points?

Nop, Im not that kind of poster that uses personal insults, I give my opinion in general. If you feel attacked thats another thing, but I wouldn't t do that intentionally. By the way, your reasoning is right, problem is the player included in it makes it illogical.

Every team needs a center, or two. That's a most and so far we've lacked a real one. But two questions arise when you consider that: do we need a conventional center in this system? and if so, is Jerome James the answer? The first one is debatable since D'Antoni usually plays smaller, fast lineups that can play the system. Also, he likes to have guys on the court that have long range (Zack at C has shot many threes, as will Jeffries when he gets back) and that can run constantly. That doesn't say Jerome James at all, but we do need shotblocking. He could bring that, but here is the thing. We've needed shotblocking since Camby, and James has been able to provide that, but he is always injured and even when healthy he just doesn't care to play again. He just cares for earning money and that's all. If he wanted to play I would say you are right, but he doesn't so forget about it.

About injuries: What if Zack is injured? You play Jeffries. What if Jeffries is still injured? You play Eddy. What if the three are injured and James is still on the team? You start D-Lee. What if Lee is out? Well, you can go small (Duhon, Nate, Craw, Q-Rich, Chandler) or ask him if he can bother earning for once his paycheck.

In the end, you are right that we need a center and a defensive presence in the middle along with a low post option on offense, but James is nothing but a contract we are desperate somebody takes off our hands.

Well, now I know your are just pulling everyone's leg. Because there is no way you seriously think Jerome James is superior to a 13/11/1 player.

Obviously you know nothing about basketball. I was a coach a few years ago and I know a lot. More than most of the knowitalls on this site. Why would you start Jefferies, Lee and Curry over Jerome, when Jerome is a legit 7 footer. He has inside skills and some outside skills as well. He blocks shots and he runs the floor. He gives us versatility that one trick ponies like Lee and Jeffries do not. Didn't you watch that playoff series a few years ago against San Antonio? Obviously not. And if you watched it you wouldn't have noticed all this because you don't know anythign abotu basketball. That is why he was so coveted during his free-agent year, because GM's know how skilled he is, and they also know how tall he is. We had to give him the full MLE because if we didn't we WOULD NOT HAVE HAD A CENTER, AND WE NEED A CENTER!!!!!!!! Everyone knows this

He gives us speed, like curry does not. You heard D'Antoni say that he was surprised at how fast he got up the floor during the preseason. All you know nothings will be surprised too. Maybe you should watch some synchronized swimming or frolf, because you know nothing about basketball and are clearly embarrassing yourself. Everyone with any common sense can see that, We NEED JEROME JAMES AS OUR CENTER!!!

FYI: Anyone arguing with me about this topic, holy crap, what is wrong with you.
