we need a center who can block shots far more than we need a small forward

Of course....JJ2 does have some of that ability, not a monster there obviously, but how many of those are there in the league that are available? If we do get an SF who can shoot and run and pass though in say Harrington then Qrich is expendable and offensively we just became the GSW of 2 playoffs ago. Combine that with the efforts of Chandler and JJ2 in shotblocking.....we might be alright. Not great, but definitely easily in the playoffs.

A deal for Wallace would on the other hand improve shot blocking more than shooting and with him, Chandler and JJ2 there to deter/deflect some shots, inside defense might just be much better.

Either way.....anything that can be had for dead weight Curry is a VAST improvement.

I am kind of puzzled with all this JJ2 talks.
This guy will go straight to the hospital after playing against real centers. And not like Galo with the back but with some broken bone.
As per shooting, handling the ball, and offense he is one the worst players I ever seen in NBA.
Why he is coming into talks so often? Just because Mike mentioned him once in positive way.
I am sure after Mike will see JJ2 play he will go straight to inactive list.
You have to realize that sometimes positive statements are relative. Saying that he liked what JJ2 was doing in his system, doesn't mean that he feels he's some great player, but that of the players he has available he feels he can get more from Jared and likely WIN with him in the rotation. Right now we have Malik filling in and on some level I'd have to agree with MDA that Jared would be a better fit. We need his size and length and active body.

Don't be so quick to judge Jared or any of our players based on the LB and Isiah years. That's been my contention and I think we can see now how much of a difference solid decision making and great coaching can make. MDA made up his mind that he needed a PG and that Duhon was capable of doing many of the things he needed. If you watch the team now it's abundantly clear these players could play the kind of ball that Isiah was trying miserably to get them to do at the start of his coaching the team.

We might just see Walsh make a trade like Eny suggests, if the team is still in the hunt a few more weeks from now and it's evident that we could improve our chances with such a move. I think he's gonna wait until Jared comes back and to see if Curry can get back on the floor, before making any moves.

knicks have a chemistry going with this team, they have an identity. That is the biggest difference from last year, the coaching is way better, guys know their role and they are filling it. My only problem I have is if you trade randolph now while he is playing good and his stock is rising, what will that do the new found chemistry. The whole allure of 2010 is to be able to bring in the marquee guys, but we need to have some compelling reason for them to come other than money.
What we really need is a center or power forward that can block shots and stick the 15ft jumper.

There is no rush to dupm anybody on this team.
If good deal will come to fill the needs without adding money after 2010 so we had to move with it.
It is all simple; so why complicate things.

we should have traded for camby. I know it would be screwing up the cap but it is perfect. we would be a playoff team. maybe even a 5-6 seed

Duhon
Crawford
Chandler
Randolph
Camby

thats a playoff team
What's Defense?

Hell yes!

But still Camby to NY rumors were all centered around Zach......

Bottom line......Knicks need to make that lateral trade and go for the playoffs......

2010 plan calls for manipulating the cap to have money available for free agents.....nobody is saying go get Antoine Walker or trade for Raef Lafrentz and then sign them to a LJ contract extention......

Draft picks are not apart of the 2010 plan......Knicks got a chance to **** on the league and bring some respect back t the uniform......lets do it!

Walsh has been overly patient this offseason almost to a fault.

Now the team is playing well but Walsh, regardless of how often he tries to pretend he doesn't know what's going on, absolutely reads our schedule and must be thinking that before he goes on ahead and tries to ADD salary - maybe it's best to make sure this team is ACTUALLY in the midst of a huge turnaround.

Our schedule definitely gets tougher after Friday and I think it would be foolish to believe a 5-3 record dictates a turnaround worthy of adding more salary.

Other than the perceived notion that we want Curry out of here and are probably also open to trading Zach and Crawford if the right offer comes around --- I doubt we see any movement.

Unless Miami is willing to do something stupid such as take Curry and Malik for Marion - I don't see a quick trade that actually IMPROVES the roster that much.

Again, there shouldn't be ANY knee jerk reactions to being 5-3 (soon 6-3 I'd say) - in either declaring this a playoff team and our troubles behind us - or declaring this a core that's ready to be built upon by adding more salary.

Nope, no way, no how, too early, and what happens if we DID, and then we're 8-8 at the end of the month and sliding? Whoops! We'd all be wondering why we added salary to the core that is now playing poorly in the face of a tougher schedule!

So, yeah, patience! This roster hasn't proven anything yet. I know we'd like it to be that way but that's just not realistic in the least.

Sacramento also has Jason Thompson so they are loaded with talented centers. Miller, Hawes, or Thompson all would be a nice addition.
