I'll believe this trade when it actually happens. Getting hyped over a rumor is a waste of energy.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

The problem with trading Kurt is counting on Layden's back up plan. As fans of the Knicks we all have experienced Layden's first move and then waited for the other shoe to drop (i.e. Ewing for Rice/no Baker, acquiring Eisley and then not moving Ward for Foyle). I am hoping that Layden has finally learned his lesson and won't make a move based on a grand plan (i.e. counting on Falk to deliver Mutoumbo).

Crush,

Nice point, I always felt the team was a deal away from finishing one that it started.

You reference the unfinished front line of Rice-Mutumbo-Baker, which in its prime would have been incredible. Bad Feet, Old age, and binging booze would have been a grand farce even greater than our current mess.

Thank the stars for that one.

But yes, It seems Laydog can't finish the goal on those trades. Lets hope it does not happen again.

What i get out of this is that the Knicks must be very confident that Dice is healthy. Why else would they be willing to trade thier only inside presence for a point guard. Also dice and Van Exel played very well together in denver. Van Exel brings a guard who can penetrate, clutch shooting, defense on the outside and an attitude and toughness.

Completely opposite--denver was BAD with Mcdyess LafrentsVoshon leonard Mcdyess Kevin Willis all in pure prime

Van exel is not the typeof player we want. he is 32 porous def a chucker who shoots 40%

hes not even a top 12 PG in the league. He had a great playoffs and was in his prime position for him a 6th man--thats where I see him thriving.Option 3-4 when on the court. If he comes tothe Knicks you will see plenty of 5-17 games.Im telling you its not worth it,and as much as I wouldliketo let wardwalk,in this case id rather go with the ward eisley backcourt and keep Thomas for other things:>)

IF we trade Thomas ward and a pick for NVE that sour team for 2-3 years no flexibilty no picks nothing.

Learn from the Spurs--its nice to have flexibilty:>) and stay away from guys like NVE.

Listen to Jim Duqutte ofthe Mets. they are taking some lumps but they are doing so for the development and building a team that will be contenders for years instead of one year wonders and back under 500for 5-6 years.

I never said the nuggets were good i said van exel and dice were good together. Also Van exel is more mature now than he was 5 years ago. I would love to know the 12 pg's better than van exel.

If it does happen, The trade would certainly benefit the Knicks. Nick is knowned to be a scoring PG with, probably the best ballhandling skills in the N.B>A. He's a tough, gritty son of a bitch!!

Before he came to Dallas @ the end of the 2002 season, he was averaging 21 pts and 8 assists for Denver. I can't recalled the last pg to do that for the knickerbockers. If there was one, it sure was a very long time ago. Most of you felt, Knicks traded away the emotional leader. Well wait til Nick get here( If thats the case). He's an emotional leader himself who doesn't back-down for nothing!

NVE is a clutch player who escalates during crunch time. Regarding Kurt Thomas, he is not a center. He did avg 14pts and 8.9reb last yr but guaranteed you he won't have those #'s out west.

Also, understand that, last season when the knicks battled the elite PF out west, it was Othella H./Weatherspoon who defended them, not Kurt.

All of you need to know, Kurt is very-foul proned and playing out west vs the elite big men would only cause him major probelms. I'd do the trade in a heartbeat!!!

13 PGS I would take over van exel:
Frances, Peyton, Kidd, Cassell, Nash, Arenas, Parker, Billups, Hudson, Davis, Bibby, Bobby Jackson, Larry Hughes.

I noticed one thing you didn't mention Ward, Eisley and Williams. I'm going to think that NVE is better than them from what your saying. NVE is an upgrade to what we have now.

NONE OF THOSE GUYS ARE AVAILABLE SO WHATS YOUR POINT ???
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

NVE would bring back the rough edge that IMO we lost when Spree was traded. I would trade KT & Ward for him. It improves our PG spot and we have Sweetney and Lampe to step up in the frontline. We drafted them, so we might as well use them and let them get the burn they need to get a good rythm.

If we get NVE, then Eisley can be dealt too, packaged with Othella and/or weatherspoon for a Big4/5 player (in a perfect world). We can't go into the season with a logjam like we do now, so at least more deal really should be made before the season starts after the NVE deal.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I agree Van Excel is an upgrade at point - but he's only an average starting point guard. We have no one who can take KTs place. The price is too high unless we can somehow manage to make another trade to bolster our front line.

Sorry old fan... you can argue the Knicks shouldn't trade for someone Nick Van Exel's age... you can argue, who's going to take KT's place but, you cannot say the man is "an average starting point". There is nothing "average" about NVE.

Well - by average I mean he's a middle of the pack starting pg - there are 29 starting point cards in the league, there are 13 and honestly I think more pgs better then NVE, that makes him an average starting PG in my book. Of course the fun of all this is that almost no two fans ever agree.

lol - And that goes double for this board! However, I believe that Houston could use a point who knows how to (every so often) explode for points...especially during the last 4 minutes of a close game, where Allan just got tired of scoring for everybody. Nick can do that, and Milos is still playing in europe...

NVe isnt coming to NY. Lets just hope that KT has a goodenough HALF season that he nets us alower echlon playoff team's 2004# 1 pick and we subsuquently grab a powerful athletic PG who can defend and create excitement and a C
http://nbadraft.net/profiles/shannonbrown.htm

and have one of the centers drop to our mid-level pick someone like Perovic Harrison Jin or that new Utah C fromAustralia Bogut who issupposedto be very good. someone will slip.

why we picked vranes ill never know:>(

We picked Vranes because as a team we lacked height, so we took the tallest guy in draft.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

thats like saying our offensive line stank so we took the fattest guy in the draft. The player should own a body of work--thisplayer shouldnot have even beeen in the draft, let alone signed.
