You could have had sessions for peanuts, Duhon is not a good player. We beat the heat and the bobcats two of the worst teams in the nba and three out of the four pgs have ate him alive

the main difference IMO was the fact that Ward played alongside guys like Ewing, Oakley, Starks, Camby, Spree, etc., all players who were defensive minded

You're absolutely right. The Knicks defense i the 90's was anchored by their frontcourt. They made the backcourt guys look like much better defensive players than they were...even Starks. Starks played good D but he was undersized and had the propensity to get abused by regular-sized and big shooting guards.

Gerald Wilkins on the other hand, could go toe-to-toe muscle-wise with anybody.

oohah

i could easily see Duhon playing on those 90's teams & being just as effective as Ward or Childs were.

Talking about stopgaps - all our starters are stopgaps.
Lee is out of position and can possible start at PF if we never get better option.
Other 4 just feeling the positions in transition period.
So who is Duhon has no significance at all.

Duhon is supposed to be a good defender and so far he is getting abused

Chalmers
17pts 8rbs 7ass
Duhon
9pts 3rbs 3ass

Miller
20pts 8ass
Duhon
5pts 7ass

Session
18pts 7rbs 8ass
Duhon
6pts 3rbs 3ass

Felton
18pts 6ass
Duhon
7pts 6ass

I know you want stability at the pg spot, but fine you overpaid for the guy, but outside of miller all these guys are medicore...

I don't care if you don't put up big numbers just play some defense

Now that isn't saying much, especially when it comes to Childs!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

didn't watch the game but looking at this season's box scores, opposing pg's are almost putting up triple doubles on him...

Ward's contract was a huge albatross. He was virtually untradeable until the genius named Thomas showed up!

yup... & we got guys complaining about Duhon's salary as if it's keeping us from making trades or free agent signings... imagine if Walsh had pulled a Layden/Isiah move & signed Duhon to the full MLE?

I think we as fans are so used to complaining that we don't even know what we are complaining about anymore. Duhon is a stopgap and is doing exactly what he was signed for. Be the one guy in the backcourt that doesn't jack it up 80 timees a game.
I just hope that people will like me

Duhon doesn't bother me that much. At least we won't be saddled with him for half a decade. He'll have expiring value next year, I think that is part of the ephemeral "plan".

signing Duhon to a 2 year deal was the only thing Walsh has done in fact that leads me to believe he actually does have a plan for 2010... other than that he hasn't done much at all, not that i expected him to work miracles but the jury is still way out on whether or not he really has one.

maybe a better question is how many of those guys could we have gotten on a 2 year MLE contract?

that has nothing to do with it. knicks made the choice to not invest in the most important position in the team (and from the nba landscape), the league. and they invested it in one of the worst pg's in the league and the way our offense looks shows it. especially considering they had marbury already under contract for one more season.

not 4 games, 4 years...he's a backup pg. it's puzzling that d'antoni wanted him so badly. nate is outplaying him.

What is wrong with you guys. Duhon is a good player he is playing in the system doing what needs to be done. His job is to make sure that his teammates are involved in the game scoring. This is what I don't understand about most on this board. He makes sure the others are scoring and in the process passes up on opportunities for himself in the process. This has been the problem with the Knicks in the past with Marbury, with Marbury teammates just stood there and Marbury would look to score the team involvement was very low. Duhon atleast has the team going and the teammates seem to be happy knowing that Duhon is looking out for them.
