But savor this...you're right. Jackson did run Brown's offense to perfection and I think relished playing with that precision. For that matter Jackson ran Lou Carnesecca's offense perfectly, and Rick Pitino's, and Stu Jackson's, and John Mcloed's, Lenny Wilkens', Jerry Sloan's, and whoever the coaches were in Denver and for the Clippers, pretty much any offense any coach threw at him. And he maximized the offensive abilities of the players around him through those offensive systems. It's pretty much a priceless skill and it is rare and undervalued. (As you can see from my arguments around here from time to time.)

Don't start me on one of my Mark Jackson rants!

Your Jax lust doesn't bother me, but just for kicks... who was the better PG, Jax or Kidd?

With all the history with our beloved Larry Brown, what would your thoughts be if the team came out flat tonight.

Charlotte? It would be no surprise because all his players hate him!

True. players like Stephon Marbury and Eddy Curry hate Brown. But guys like Mo Cheeks, Regggie Miller and Mark Jackson - you know, guys that become coaches or go to the HOF - loved him. Go figure...

Blueseats trying to smoke me out...

jax played himself out of new york by falling in love with this own offense after his stellar rookie year. for such a new york savvy guy he managed to alienate the local fan base and get himself run out of town. i ,believe it could have been avoided if he had retained his role as a highly successful rookie point guard who focused on feeding others and putting his shot in the ;background

Jason Kidd is the better PG no comparison. But I think that is mainly because of his superior all-around ability as an athlete. Kidd is one of the best PG's to ever play the game on both sides of the ball.

Just from an offense running standpoint, the ability to execute whatever offense a coach wanted run, I think Jackson had more versatility than Kidd. Kidd is pretty much an offense unto himself and nobody is better at it. However, his game is limited (If you can really say that) to a running style. Not that he can't play slowdown but that is a waste of Jason Kidd.

From the standpoint of executing an offense and hitting players with the ball where they could best make a shot, Jackson is probably in the top 5 with Magic, Stockton, Kidd --- and probably a Cousy or Tricky Dick McGuire (That's for Marv). You don't get to be #2 all-time in assists by accident.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

See I don't agree with you Marv. remember he did make the all-star team in his second year. Jackson's ****iness did turn some people off, but compared to the throat cutting gestures of today I think the helicopter dance is cute.

What I think hurt Jackson was the fact he showed up out of shape in his 3rd season. He still played pretty well but not to the standard he showed he was capable of previously, and New York turned on him. But he came back in shape the next season rededicated to making other players better and he maintained that for the rest of his career (13 more years)and he was treated pretty badly by the Kicks organization.

Riley wanted him out because Jackson's man-to-man defense was poor. Unfortunately Riley outsmarted himself because after trading Jackson nobody could run the offense smoothly and we became one of the ugliest teams to watch in history. People like to reminisce about the good old days of the 90's but the Knicks had a lot of trouble scoring because our PG's were not very good orchestrator. Sometimes you have to give something to get something.

Wrong guy.....its gonna be Gerald Wallace the Knick killer.....but to say that is crazy since everyone kills the knicks.

It depends on what team shows up. I think they are gonna want to show Brown they can play.

i agree with your thoughts on kidd being the better athlete/player, but he's also quite capable in a halfcout pick n roll offense.

jackson also let himself get discombobulated by the signing of strickland. he felt unappreciated, got depressed and then fat. he hadn't yet learned to utilize his size in the post, his jumper was below iffy, and he played no d, it's really quite amazing what he did do with such few skills. but he had that vision thing and he knew how to get the ball to people where they wanted it.

Knicks-BoobKittens.

Two 1-2 teams both of who outlasted the cHeat!

Marbury wants Larry back, Larry didn't want to talk about Marbury...surprise!

We win, we're 2-2 and back on the DAntoni is a genius and will get us to the playoffs bandwagon!

We lose, and wow, LOL, yeah..... Oh, that's right, that means DAntoni is a genius and is tanking below the radar of the casual fan!

In any event....GO KNICKS!

Jack McCallum, author of 7 seconds or less, was featured on the pre-game show. I would have capped and offered but I nearly fell asleep 12 seconds in. What a stiff!

Well, about 10 minutes to tipoff. Wonder if the Garden will CHEER Larry to take a shot at Isiah and the present brewing fiasco --- or -- BOO him cause well that's what we do best these days! Boo people!

Keep an eye on: Okafur to block 8 shots or so.... and Wallace to hit 35% of his SEASON THREE POINT TOTAL in this game (last year, he hit 33% of his 3pt SEASON shot total in one game against us!)
