Add the Daily News to your book fire rally. Seems like Berman didn't just make something up and D'Antoni did throw an explicit tantrum.

Think about it, the Knicks actually won the opener, but victory was just a sidebar. The much bigger stories were 1) Stephon Marbury not seeing the light of day and 2) D’Antoni apparently cursing out Knicks fans who chanted “We want Steph.”

These two stories stayed hot - back-page stuff - heading into the weekend, with Marbury placed on the inactive list on Friday. Walsh should have considered using Isiah Thomas to advise D’Antoni about the nature of all this stuff. D’Antoni may be a veteran coach, but in terms of dealing with the media, he ain’t seen nothing yet.

How ironic, but predictable, that MSG cameras ratted him out, providing a closeup of D’Antoni yapping at fans. Thomas could have told D’Antoni that back in December 2006, MSG cameras got him in hot water when he was caught warning Carmelo Anthony that a hard foul would be administered if he, or any of his teammates, dared enter the paint (the threat was carried out by Mardy Collins and a brawl ensued).

D'Antoni had a hard time dealing with the Phoenix media when they criticized him. I don't think he is cut out for NYC media which is crazy, like Phoenix times 20. He should have taken that Chicago job. Better team, better future, better media.

Just the fact that he took this job makes me question his judgment. Dumbass.

Whatever D'Antoni says GOES' as far as I'm concerned!! We need someone to kick everyone in the ass anyway. If it takes sacrificing D'Antoni to clean out this trash, then so be it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The media likes to tear people and things apart, they are disgusting, putrid and need their butts kicked for the horrible things they are saying about Walsh and D'Antoni just after 2 games into the season. Neither Walsh or D"Antoni made any kind of promises about this team winning a championship or anything like that, there is no reason to give up on them yet, this impatience by the media and fans is totally wrong, and way out of line.
Walsh has gratiously allowed the media back onto the Locker Room and into his Office after the Media bans of the previous regime, and this is how the media and fans treat, Walsh and D'Antoni with ruthless criticism and other kinds of BS.
It's disgusting!
