no need to get pissy bro... i'm asking u to clarify ur stance... i agree w/u Jamal for Al is fair value & i'd make that deal to gain the cap space... but when u use cap space as a justification for wanting to make 1 deal i believe it should apply to other deals that net u the same, actually a lot more cap space & a realistic shot at targetting a big name in 2010, because in the end that's really what this all boils down to.

No pissyness TMS. I straight up told you that I didn't think you understood me at all. Cmon man, you should know me better than that..

The underlying goal of every single move the Knicks make from here on out, in the end, is capspace. Donnie should be making smart moves that get this team maximum value in return, as well as give this team a better chance to have capspace.

Jamal for Al = accomplishes both
Zach for 2nd rounder = accomplishes cap space but doesn't accomplish getting fair value in return.

I don't think I can say it anymore clearly.

Curry will never make it under D'A system. This is an opportunity to let him go. Remember, Curry did score 19 pts/game 2 years ago.

Curry for Al Harrington goes well! Both talent-wise and salary-wise. Curry is also almost 3 yrs younger. But we save the 2010 salary.

Salaries for next 3 years:
Al Harrington
  • 2008 $9,226,250
  • 2009 $10,026,875
  • 2010 --

Eddy Curry
  • 2008 $9,723,983
  • 2009 $10,500,423
  • 2010 $11,276,863

I'd throw in 2 2nd rounders or a top 20 protected 1st round pick just to get this done.

I wouldn't throw in any draft picks, but I'd throw in Roberson and then take back PE Jr!

Another angle on this might be Curry + Lee for Harrington and Beidrins.

That matches a center + PF for a Center + PF
and
a vet plus 4 yr player for a vet + 3 yr player

So both teams remain balanced in the front court.
I like David Lee a lot so I am not too eager to trade him. But I am eager to trade Curry.

You're willing to give up a shot at Lebron or Bosh just because you don't want to give up 2 2nd round picks? I'm working under the assumption that we will NOT have many opportunities to trade Eddy for a shorter contract. I see the fat guy only getting worse with age. I'd do whatever I could to get rid of him ASAP.

I do think we will have opportunities to trade Curry for a shorter contract ( 1 or 2 yrs). I don't undervalue Curry as you do. He is having problems now - new coach; he got sick and missed preseason; is out of shape, etc. But he still is a good offensive player and young (25 yrs old).

just getting rid of Jamal's contract won't free up the cap space to go after a big name tho... getting rid of Zach's contract would... that's why i'd be willing to take on less value to get the bigger return in terms of cap space... sorry didn't mean to misinterpret ur last post bro.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I see Eddy as a good dunker not a good offensive player. I really don't think any team is going to take on extra salary to have him but I sure hope I'm wrong.

Ight well if the trade were to happen....craw for harrington......then the Knicks start Q @ the 2.

Ahhhhhhhhh!

Where's the honor in that? Don't say Wilson can play the 2. That's nonsense. Wilson is a forward through and through.

Sigh.....

Ok so with Harrington.....the starting line-up could be:

Lee, Harrington, Zach, Duhon and Q-brick? Yucky but ok for the time being. Gallo, wilson, nate, Marbs, and Jared off the bench?

Fine! Have it your way! I wash may hands of it!

Knicks that team......on paper probably could still win as many games they would have with Craw.

Q-Brick @ the 2? Yucky Ducky!

It's really not as bad as it sounds when you look at it tho. You could also play Steph at the 2 in the SL.
