So much for D'Antoni being a softee "players coach" that doesn't hold players accountable.

I'm all for positive re-enforcement, but sometimes a careful, timely, kick in the...

can work.

For Eddy and us, let's hope so.

It could work, as long as it is done carefully, and if Eddy has the desire. It may not be the right environment though, and I could still see him improve a bit elsewhere.

Absolutely agree Ike. If Eddy really didn't see this coming then I don't even know what to say.. I really dont.

I'm almost dumbfounded how such a young guy with all of his potential--a guy who averaged 20-7 over a year at 23-24 years old and lead the league in FG% could drop so precipitously in game and stature in such a short time? He just kind of lost it since Zach was brought on board. That isn't Zach's fault--Curry is just mentally soft. Curry needs to go out and pull a Henry Steele right now

It won't work. And D'antoni shouldn't even have to sit this buffoon so he works harder in practice and his conditioning. He's been a bum in the league for way too long now. And one thing you can't teach is desire and motivation. Eddy is what he is, he'll never improve. His 19&6 season was a fluke, and personally I was never even impressed because of his defensive efficiency.

At this point I don't even want his trade value increased, because we weren't going to get good value for him anyway. Any smart GM that knows what he's doing knows what Curry is all about, so trade value is a non factor. Obesity and laziness have been an issue his whole career.

The reason is he wasn't really a 20/7 player. He was force-fed and featured to the detriment of other players in the frontcourt and to the team overall. It is not unusual for a player who isn't that good to put up good numbers when they are featured out the Wazoo -- remember when Tony Campbell averaged 23 point for expansion Minnesota?

Here is the difference: Tony Campbell was a much better basketball player than Eddy Corny, he just didn't have nearly the physical gifts.

what if the goal is to play the guys who can play?

if Curry doesn't like it, he can opt out at the end of the year.

i find Curry's benching refreshing. maybe now he gets in shape.
Let me put it this way: If the goal is to get cap space in 2010, then this decision is stupid

If the goal is to trade him, this seems awfully stupid

Agreed, but, the only way to make him truly appetizing to other teams is to return him to that 19/7 player of two seasons ago. Unfortunately with Zach still in uniform that is entirely impossible.

So, well, we now got JJ3.

JJ1=Jerome James
JJ2=Jared Jeffries
JJ3=Eddy Curry turning into Jerome James and his bench warming ways until he expires in 2011.

If he were a contributing bench player putting up 14 & 5 in about 24 mpg, I think he'd have a little trade value. I'm talking about trading him plus a 2nd round pick for an inferior player with one year less on the contract. Something like that. Or at least play Eddy and keep him in game shape so that after you trade Zach, Eddy's ready to return to that 19 and 7 player.

Exactly; Eddy didn't drop precipitously. He never dropped or rose. I have no doubt that if you restored the conditions of two years ago--that is, give him a month to get "less fat" and got rid of Zach and fet him the ball non-stop--he'd immediately start averaging 19 & 7 again. Nothing's changed with him. Nothing ever did.

hey eddy, the reason D'Antoni didn't tell you you're out is because IT IS SO OBVIOUS you don't belong on the court.
