Pretty accurate I think. This is why I have such a hard time voting every year. I tend to lean left on social issues and right on economics. I thought I would have been further to the right on economics to be honest. I did think they could come up with better questions. Some of the questions could be interpreted different ways by different people and may not truly reflect your views.

Well, I'm happy I'm at least somewhat close to being the conservative that I declare, but at least I've admitted to leaning left slightly (Which is the case, I think, in this test.)

I stand on my own two feet and no political entity can sway me.

I think this seems about right for me, as well. Same as Bip said, although I think we have a better class of candidates than the '04 election, in general, I still think voting is a pain, because the candidates are generally more extreme, in some sense, than I am.

I was about -1 liberal and -1 libertarian. I guess that makes me close to a neo-nazi compared to you guys
So slightly left of center? Wow! I definitely think Obama/Biden are closer to those scores than McCain/Palin are.

Man! Between you, Sebstar and this damned test I feel like I have no choice but to make Obama the First Chairman of the Free Citizens of the USA!

Im not sure about how accurate this test is in terms of whether someone is left leaning or right leaning, but I do think its interesting to see how people compare to one another.

Wow, I did not think someone here would be more liberal than I am! Are you either a professor or a teacher by any chance?

I'm with you Solace. The extremes on both sides of the fence seem to be gaining power and it is odd seeing as most of the country tends to be moderate. In general I think both candidates are solid and will be far better than Bush. That being said they both have policies that scare the crizzap out of me. both parties have taken a general step back in my view. The Republicans have simply forgotten the middle class. And the Democrats have painted the middle class as people with no money and a constant struggle to eat. This class warfare is very detrimental. The government should be working for all. Of course my anger at both parties goes way deeper than this, but you get the general idea. I no longer think they serve us. They instead work for the votes. And each side has a group of people who beleive their rhetoric. Meanwhile both parties are selling us up the river.

Definitely. What kills me too with the extremes is how seemingly unrelated issues are always generally the same among candidates of each party, regardless of which candidate it is. That's the part that really drives me nuts. It's tough when I can listen to one of the candidates on one issue and be like, "that's close enough to how I'd like it" and then on the next issue be like "ugh". I also think it's scary how badly some of the campaign strategies have focused more on trashing the opponent than discussing their own campaign. Then, of course, like you said, it's tough to know if we're going to get a semblance of what we hope once either of these guys get into office. Finally, I definitely share your concern over the economics. In both cases, I don't really trust either candidate. During that third debate, when McCain was asking "why would you want to raise anyone's taxes?", it really sounded to me like he was more concerned about his own taxes. Then, Obama has come off a little arrogant in the past with his comment about the rich not needing the extra money, which seems to be contrast capitalism a bit. The bottom line here is that our government is very inefficient and 95% of the U.S. population is clueless about money. Until they find a way to help fix those two problems, I don't think any of these plans will have a major positive effect.
