I'm with Vmart on this one...

Plus, we won't turn the 'big corner' until H20 comes off the books, so just sit back and hope that we can overachieve a bit.

Happy friday-

Nene is a franchise cornerstone anchor piece who is 21 years old. So if you could trade anyone on the Knicks straight take the money out--you wouldnt? Youd rather have 33 year old Allan Houston? KVH? come on!

You throw your opinions out, be prepared for them to be throw back at you Playa 2. Its not about “caring” about what you say… BTW, get off the NYC bias. Believe it or not, but there are temptations that saturate every NBA city. There are plenty of examples of careers getting snuffed out outside of NY, and I wouldn’t have to go all the way back to Michael Ray Richardson to cite them. The “young players cant handle NY” is just a lame cover up to hide their ineptitude. Nothing more.

I can appreciate the optimistic spin as much as the next guy, but c’mon. Frank Williams is supposed to average 14/7 ?? Reversing those numbers would be more accurate… Slow down on Frank Williams. Its going to take more then dropping some good numbers on those glorified YMCA pick up games they call Summer b-ball to erase that deer caught in the headlights play he was famous for all year. That being said, he is twice as good as Eisely which is really sad.

The mistakes that you seem all seem to be so quick to forgive are the reasons why we have no All-Stars, playoff games, or any tangible hope. We have every right to criticize past moves. Damn, its not as if we are lamenting Starks going 2 for 18, or the Charles Smith trade…The mistakes still impact this team today. I don’t work for the Knicks, so I don’t feel obligated to spin their ungodly decisions. The only way we will be able to “move on” is the day Scott Layden gets handed that pink slip.

I think you would be in the minority. i think 95% of fans would trade the 33 year oldHouston for the 21 year old Nene in a hearbeat if the salaries were the same. remember this team is not good. we are not breaking up a championship team here

You may want to check out: How much does Houston have left in the tank?. Dodger, TKF, and Playa make good supporting points about Houston's age. Regardless, we should be keeping a vet or two for stability, experience and courtside leadership in any team orientated rebuilding process

As far as youth is concern, I can't wait to see what Chaney has for Williams, Sweetney, Lampe and Vranes. I have confidence in New York developing our youth

Caseloads when you see a guy with two major knee surgeries you make a deal but dont give up a lottery pick especially in a year with so much talent and so much big man talent.

i am saying this in hindsight, i dont expect all of us fake Gm's to have the scouting the knicks have but this move shows the knicks have some of the worst Scouting by any team.

This move is indicative of any thine else there is no need to be confident with this regime, but there are plenty other bad moves to convince you.

I know this is a nene thread but come on, I really like the kid a lot but we are going a bit far with the Franchise player bit.. He has done nothing to warrant that yet, but what we should be lamenting is that layden basically showed no interest in Amare, I know a lot of us on this site a year ago was all over this kid, and Martin I think was one of them also, look at amare now a good argument can be made for this kid as being a special player already, and yet layden didn't seem to show a drop of interest, I am more upset at not drafting him than layden making that trade...

Your acting like rookies bode well in NYC, I beg to differ.Too many distractions for some of them who's a lil naive of city lights and fast women.

Sounds like you're talking from experience. Women getting you down?

If a rookie is mentally sound, those things won't distract them. Perfect example to the Contrary is Jeremy Shockey. He's a doof that chases anything in a skirt.

But, then there is Derek Jeter. Yes, he has a night life, and yes he is popular with the ladies.....BUT, he also has 4 rings and a World Series MVP trophy among other things.

Not all rookies end up distracted. Derek is a prime example.

This forum and response looks like the same discussion from last summer. We cannot redue the trade, Cannot draft Amare, nor Butler.....Not ming..

The knicks have not made panic moves, drafted 3 rookies it looks to roster, along with Williams, which makes for 40% of the roster either a first or second year player. This is a huge shift in philosphy, so you can talk all about the past, but things are changing. It just takes time.

The future is not Dice, Spree, h20, ......its in the kids. and the draft.

You make a very good point. We are all just fans, but Layden is paid to know the facts. I was one of the people who was in favor of the Dyse trade. I'm a fan, Layden should have know better. I found out after the trade that Denver was dieing for that pick because they really wanted Nene. There's no way we should have traded Camby. The trade should have been Jackson and pick for Dyse and second round pick, and probably something else thrown in on their end. Kiki has publicly stated that Denver would have given anything for that pick. Layden should have been doing his job and he should have know.
