LOL, you're really putting that Gerry Rafferty solo to good use, eh? Even though I knew what song it was, it still cracked me up. Good stuff.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Wow! Internet fighting with strangers! A good way for anyone to look stupid.
IM not- HO, there's 3 stinkers/wish you could have it back moments for me- Trading Mark Jackson in 93- I don't know how we drafted two decent point guards and didn't keep either one. I liked Harper but the departure of Jackson brought about an offensive era where it was not just proud to play hard defense, but proud to win without good offense either. Didn't work vs the great teams of that time (Bulls, Rockets). Not using Rolando off the bench in the finals 94 game 7 to give Starks a breather/chill pill and most of all the 97 off the bench vs miami. that was the most painful of all- that team was great and we never got to see them whip Miami and challenge the Bulls again. 2 most overrated moments of the 90's? Allan Hosuton's lucky bounce in 99 and "the dunk" by Starks over Jordan - They are bittersweet playoffs moments for me. It's sad that Ewing's tip-in in 94 over Indiana is our best playoff moment of the 90's. If Allan had missed that shot in 99 maybe he wouldn't have gotten 100 million dollars when we had Spree right there to replace him. The Starks dunk was a purely inspiring little man move, and I loved it, and hated Jordan, but didn't we lose 4 straight after that to get knocked out? All that being said- the 90's created a lot of Knick fans even w out the ring, as the forum so aptly demonstrates. If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

We have not had a true floor general/distributor since Mark Jackson, and we threw him away, one of the top 5 passers who ever played in the NBA. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Pat Riley's fault. oohah Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Posted by 93BUICK: Bingo! But Starks was over jordan, pippy and grant. The three best defenders on that team. I'll never trust this' team again.

I hate to say it, but Jackson was 'I think' overrated. He was a pretty good passer, but when they started to sell him with that baby hook, it became kind of a joke after awhile. He was starting to try to back 'centers' down and hook over them. It was laughable. Besides, he never won anything either.
And bringing him here as GM or coach would have been another disaster. Sorry. I know a few of you are heads over heals for the guy, but simply put........................'he sucked'! Sorry. I'll never trust this' team again.

Posted by 4949:It's true- it was a sick awesome move! But you don't back it up by losing FOUR STRAIGHT. That's hype over substance. That's why the Bulls kicked our butt. I hated that. Just like the Mets coughing it up on game 162 2 yrs in a row after Maine and Santana pitch historically awesome games 161.Posted by 93BUICK: Truly awesome teams take a moment as awesome as Stark's dunk and run with it. However- On the Ewing front- there were things I didn't like here and there, like running Don Nelson out of town, and wasting time running the player's association, but really the only thing I wish he hadn't done was get up off that bench in Miami. Why Patrick why? I know it was a heated moment but that's just when he needed to chill, and come back and win on the court. Dang. And, I'm sure Patrick feels the exact same way, and it was a crazy moment, and our bench coaches should have kept our guys on the bench too. Patrick made our team. He was it. We talk about missing Mason Oak etc but it was Patrick who made them great. If we had Patrick right now at Center in his prime we'd be talking about going to the finals this year, and we never would have had a spoiled work ethic culture. GO KNICKS! Posted by 4949: Yeah, he overrated himself to #2 all time in assists, a 17 year career, tons of triple doubles, has coined shot names, got the NBA to change the rules because nobody could stop him, is # 12 all time in games played...and killed the Knicks Ward and Childs game after game. I wish we could get a PG here who sucked that bad again! oohah Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

I thought Mark was annoying too, and would have been a bad choice for us as coach, and i hated him in Indiana, and his posting up was tiresome. But with the Knicks, with Starks at the 2, stability, playing for one team within a system, maturing w the same players, etc- and dishing to Ewing, I think he would have been better than he was as a semi journeyman.

Maybe Riley just thought point guards should be better because he had only coached Magic.
