Honestly any trade that gets us rid of Weatherspoon, is a good one. Ditto that for Anderson and Eisley.

Booth had that one good year for Washington. Potapenko has not been healthy for 2 years but he can play if healthy.

I would take Potapenko for Spoon in a nano-second!

As for Ward, hold on to him unil camp, mayube a team will be more desperate then.

I'm liking this trade. If you can dump 'Spoon and Ward for 2 big bodies, the Knicks are definitely better off. V can't score, but is a banger-which we really need in the middle, especially if 'Zo has any gas left in the tank.

I don't know much about Booth, but swapping 'Spoon for another role player is a wash to me.

Right now, Knicks are using "center by committe", which doesn't work-check the Celtics. Pope, Doleac, Sweetney, Thomas, Harrington-come on.

Sweetney is at least a year away from contributing-Lampe might be able to contribute, but face it-the Knick paid for Van Horn, so Keith will play.

V at center, Postell/Nailon at the 3, Houston/Andersen at 2, Eisely at the 1, and Van Horn/Thomas at the 4...then we got a shot at the 8th slot. If we get McDyess back, then Thomas becomes expendable, since Chaney would be wise to go with a Van Horn/McDyess rotation.

Where are all these Dampier rumors coming from? I think the signing of Vranes and Lampe basically killed that idea, unless something happens on the Thomas front. Right now, there are the following centers and PF/C on the Knicks roster

Thomas
Pope (Unrestricted Free Agent)
Doleac
Lampe
Vranes
Weatherspoon

That's alot of bodies. Pope is gone, for sure, and 'Spoon might be, if a trade can be made. So, we are looking at a 4 center rotation, assuming Chaney gets desperate and pushes Lampe and Vranes into service.

DAmpier would mean having to find soemone to eat Doleac's contract, as well as several other Knicks (Postell, 'Spoon, Ward?). Who would want to do that?

Starks-

He's a restricted free agent, according to ESPN, Sporting News, etc. So, yeah, he isn't under contract right now, but the Knicks still retain (some)rights.

The only unrestricted FA that the Knicks have is Mark Pope.

I haven't heard anything that suggests that Postell or Nailon have sought offers from other teams, or that other teams have approached them-that's a cause for concern in my book.

Most likely, they will be back.

Spoon for Booth...ok whatever. Ward for Al Harrington???? Please!! I know it was reported somewhere in the ridiculous NY media, but this trade is like the Yankees trading Antonio Osuna (garbage veteran)for Dontrelle Willis (exciting young prospect who's had some success). Ward for Harrington is an absurd notion.
