who? His wife? I would hope they wouldn't be allowed in there. That didn't work too well for Phil Jackson in LA.

And in response to "Nixluva"...I appreciate what you are saying about what type of PG would look more impressive...but I thought that Duhon struggled to get people the ball in the right spots...he didn't seem to be on the same page as the others...but I understand he is new and just starting to play with these guys.
Marbury did a great job of getting people involved...more assists than points...but many many other issues...

You were there so I will assume that you were seeing just what you're describing.

To Pharzeone, I think Steph is clearly the superior player, but you know better than anyone what the problem with Steph is. What his strengths have been as a PG and his weaknesses. I've been one of Steph's biggest supporters over the years. My thoughts are that Duhon may not look spectacular, especially right now, but I think MDA wants a guy that will be looking to setup teammates more often and consistently than Steph has been known to be. It's all good right now but for all of his career Steph has been a shoot 1st PG and his passes have tended to come of his penetration when he has little choice but to pass. He's never been anything close to the kind of thinking PG that a Nash or Kidd is.

Now Duhon isn't a great player, but I do believe that he'll run the plays that are called and he'll look to setup teammates 1st and 2nd before he calls his own number. When you're out there with a lot of scorers that's what we need. Not that Steph can't do it, i'm just saying that Duhon is a more cerebral player. Steph may just be playing and not having to really read anything. It may look great now, but I don't know if he'd be able to think his way around a good defense as we'll face in season. In the end we'll have to wait and see. For right now Steph is probably going to outshine Duhon early on.

What really hasn't got much attention anywhere (at least that I have seen) is the play of Nate...I mean he looked great...unstoppable at times...of course in his case it usually ends up for a shot of his own...but man he is fun to watch.
I will add that Duhon was always going to the coaches and asking questions and chatting whenever he was out...this wasn't exactly the same for the other PG...the two or three times I saw someone say something to him he quickly had an excuse...
Again, just my thoughts and observations...by no means am I any type of expert...just wanted to share what I saw and thought...and glad it has started some discussion.

Thx for the kickass post Red, i think everything we need to know about Marbs we already know. Will he put up 20 and 8 dimes? He freakin might, but will he be a leader? I don't think so and imho he'll be #1 reason if the offense won't flow like its supposed to. I don't know about Craw or Zack or Nate, but Marbs will be #1.

Marbury was clearly the best player on the floor…I was shocked at how obvious this seemed

Meanwhile 90% of the board wants to cut him and eat 21 million dollars in his last year of the contract. Reality fellas, let's live in reality...

oohah

i don't think it's anything new to find out Marbury's the most talented guy on the floor... the question is whether or not having him here will be a positive for this franchise that's trying to learn how to play some team ball this season & approach the game w/some professionalism... i dunno what u guys who wanna hold onto Steph have left in you but speaking for myself i have absolutely zero faith left for Steph... he could put up a 22-9 season this year for all i care & i still would think he needs to go... just listening to the guy & reading about how all his teammates are pretty much ignoring him now speaks volumes to me... he ain't gonna change... please Dolan, move forward, for the Love of God.

thanks for the info. I am not suprised marbury looked like the best player on the court. He often does, but his lack of leadership skills and decision making often mitigate a lot of his raw ball skills.

Good too see Houston taking some sort of leadership role. I am glad he told nate to shut his trap.. geez... nate... shut up already...

I am also not suprised jeffries looks good in this style of play..

Grass is always greener thing always seem to apply to the Knicks. Duhon is now perceive to be a pass first pg but his career doesn't suggest it. I know Steph can't exist here because he as been a cancer to the team but in no way does that mean excepting Duhon as the answer makes sense. You don't replace a good looking lemon with a bad looking one and say wow, I upgraded.

that woman with JJSkinny is almost as ugly as he is.

The Knicks have some decent players.. I think even in the darkest hours most would admit that. Their chemistry smells like the farts I get after 8 pints and 4 kabobs of street meat. That is why DW threw a ton of cash at Mike D... to get these guys playing better and be able to actually evaluate them and their value in a normal basketball setting.

I think the closest we got to this environment was Isiah year one as coach. He did have the players playing decently, and were it not for the key injuries down the stretch, we might have won 37-40 games.

Still, nowhere near what the payroll says the team should be.

If the Knicks win 41 games, does D'Antoni get coach of the year?

Dude, Jeffries sucks. Quick shots? Dude shoots airballs, or the side of the backboard. Gimme a break.

I'm telling you Panos... I guarantee you that Jeffries has a good year.

If he does, I'll eat my hat.
If, however, after 2 years of watching him stink, and you're still thinking he's gonna be good, you'll deserve some raspberries.

worked for doc rivers...

seriously, that would be the best case scenario for trading our guys and for attracting free agents. i dont expect it, but i will root for it.

I fully expect that with a great coach who really wants to coach the team, a fully supportive GM and a coach that doesn't have any agendas that effect his judgement of who should play or not, that this team will be much improved. We've seen how well these guys can play when they're focused. The problem is that we haven't had anything close to a real identity and style of play that fit.

Now it seems that MDA is gonna move away from Curry and focus on the guys that all make sense playing together in this style. If Curry can't catch up then that's too bad. He'll end up being the one left out and eventually traded. I'm ecstatic about Lee possibly being in the SL. I'm just glad to see things moving in a true direction for a change. We know what this team is going to be moving towards for once.

Jared Jeffries is best suited playing center. His frame is similar to Mikki Moore. Moore was very effective in the Nets fast paced offense. Jeffries was very effective in the Wizards fast paced offense. So him having a good year isn't that shocking for me.
