Yeah but

Not winning with a watchable team >>>>>>> Not winning with a unwatchable team

And I ain't watch JJ2, Du-Du, Lee and Q on the floor at the same time.

The only thing I read about Q is that he's lost 20 lbs and is ready to go.

I would never expect Mike to put a lineup on the floor that didn't have any kind of offensive fluidity and punch. It's not totally true what someone said about the team not having added shooting. I think we at least have options with Roberson, Gallo, a healthy Q and more PT for Chan. Jamal and Nate should be better in this system.

With some scorers on this team I think Duhon is being sold short. He would seem to be just what the team needs. So I think we'll be able to look much better. NEither Duhon or Steph are perfect PG's, but they'll have to do for now and should be able to be somewhat effective. Not great, but effective. That is if Steph is kept, which looks more likely now.

my defensive rotation would be:

C - Jefferies
PF - Lee
SF - Chandler
SG - Q Rich
PG - Duhon

regardless this team ain't gonna win many games this season w/o some major roster moves made before the season begins... let's not fool ourselves into thinking some rotation tinkering's gonna have much of an impact either way.

Rotation tinkering is not the whole thing. Its the D'antoni system. Guys will have roles and have assignments. When guys are moving it will be apart of the game plan. All the good teams do this. Boston had it down pat and totally embarrassed the Lakers on the finals.

I'm not saying the Knicks are gonna win anything. I am saying I have faith in D'antoni's coaching ability. I believe the guys will look more professional and there will be a method to the madness for the first time in 4 years probably. I can't wait. Then hopefully Donnie can make moves to make D'antoni's team work better as time goes on.

"I believe the guys will look more professional and there will be a method to the madness for the first time in 4 years probably."

The level of D'Antoni's discipline will be made evident in day one of training camp. Once his philosophy is made clear the next immediate step is to determine the best seven who can adapt to his playing style. It will be less about wins and losses and more about installing the new system.

Knicks candidates who are stubborn, slow-learners, selfish, or limited physically will be shown the pine or the door. At the first sign of hesitation or resistance to embrace the D'Antoni Way, expect Donnie Walsh to answer with swift moves for frisky puppies.

Wilson Chandler has a tremendous opportunity to play a significant role with D'Antoni's encouragement as the Knicks WILL run.

Let the track meet begin.

Chandler will definitely be in D'Antoni's rotation will probably start. As a rookie he was good defensively and not bad on the offensive end. He seems to have improved his ball handling and his outside shot, which should help his offensive contribution. But we'll see for sure in November. I wouldn't expect him to develop into an all-star, but I think he will be an above average starter as he gets more experience.

I've heard this about Q the last two years in differing versions of him wanting to prove something.

I agree with Earl. I'm not sure how different this year will be in terms of our record. But in terms of organizational approach I think it will be different this year. No more are we faced with a GM and coach in a death struggle. Even Isiah the coach differed with Isiah the GM. Now we have 2 guys on the same page. They have a united front and can prevent the players from running the asylum. We all know that one of these fools will challenge Mike's authority. But this year, I just don't think it's going to last for long.
I just hope that people will like me

in theory the right system will solve a lot of ills, but i don't see it really translating into any noticeable amount of W's til we get some better players on this team... BOS had 3 star players who bought into the system & everyone followed their lead... we don't have that.

i agree tho, i'd much rather see this team at least showing some semblence of unity & playing team ball even if they lose, than see a buncha guys on the floor who have no idea what the play being run is & only wanna go on iso's on every possession to pump up their own stats.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

TMS - The Mayor is the Knicks most reasonable facsimile of Paul Pierce. Certainly, he is NOT Paul Pierce, but he is the single player who represents the varied skill-set that D'Antoni demands to spread the floor on offense. Have you noted how the Head Coach's comments on players seem to always fit Chandler's name in the first sentence?

Someone needs to set the tone.

Or as Kool and The Gang once posed the immortal question... (djsu, please add juicy image here)

I nominate "the Mayor" as one of the worst nicknames of all-time.

I'd like to see:

Nate
Craw
Chandler/Gallo
Chandler/Gallo
Lee

Not a great team by any stretch, but I think it at least would be as entertaining of a team as a 25 game winner can be. Then the Knicks draft Ricky Rubio as the starting PG or nab Blake Griffin (if he declares, maybe won't because I could see him being the rare kid that puts school first) or BJ Mullens to finish off the big man rotation (waiting for Bonn's obligatory Hasheem Thabeet post).

Chris Duhon is the one that should be complaining. Image if your nickname was Dodo.

"I nominate "the Mayor" as one of the worst nicknames of all-time."

GKFv2 - sadly, in your haste to promote negative vibes and rigid definitions, you have missed the entire brand promise that is inherant in the groundbreaking campaign to nominate Wilson Chandler as The Mayor. You miss the prime directive that sports, at their best, should be fun - and fueled by fans who don't care about simply celebrating the accomplished.

You overlook what it means to have a Joe Pepitone, Wahoo McDaniel or Choo Choo Coleman Fan Club. Or the significance and pure joy of the blue seats chanting "Win-GO" when the Knicks are up 10 with less than two minutes to go.

No sir, you do not get it, because you are too worried about looking athletically correct or that you know more than the next guy. You don't get it because you don't understand that for every bust there is a rare moment that a caterpillar turns into a butterfly and in that moment you are too late to get on the bus - beacuse it left 15 minutes ago.

So please, continue to diss the serendipity-doo, the abstract or my orange and blue pom-poms You don't get it.

The Mayor is not a nickname.

It is a movement.

Can there be any doubt that The Mayor is ready to have a solid season?

His skill set seems to have expanded with the added confidence of outside range, while he continues to rebound with authority.

What's not to like?

Our last 3 lottery picks were Danillo, Frye, and Sweetney. No wonder our team sucks.

Exactly. One of the most pathetic aspects of the Isiah era is that not only did we suck big time -- but we have zilch to show for it. We were at the bottom of the league for so long yet could not get anything close to a franchise player in the draft. At least when we sucked back in the early 80s we got Ewing out of it.
