it'd be nice if we could develop some actual starters in the interim. the development of Dlee, Nate, Chandler and Gallinari is crucial. if they can't develop here, they need to be moved for first round picks and get some guys who can be developed here.

i don't think it's that crucial. for the most part, those guys are role players. with the knicks $$$$'s, they can buy role players from alot of teams. the knicks need the franchise guy. once they get him, they can do the isiah method and build a big time winning team. isiah's flaw was that he didn't get the franchise guy before going after complimentary parts.

well, i think he thought marbury was the franchise guy. oops.

yeah, i dunno. if that's the plan, it's going to be a boring two years. i would hope the plan is to try and develop some young guys and have a solid young core so we can add a super duper franchise guy and maybe one other piece and be ready to hit the ground running come tip off time in 2010.

Isiahs problem was that he thought crumby parts were franchise players. Marbury, Crawford, Curry, Channing Frye, Zach Randolph, Steve Francis.

a few scenarios:

Run him into the ground so he can pull up with injury and keep his pride. Then waive him so he "Can get with a contender".

Or,

Send him home until he begs for a buyout and saves Dolan a few rubles.

Or,

Play him on a second unit with Zdumb where they get 20 min a game "to help the team do what it needs to do", if it raised his value so much the better. Same with Zhit-bo.

the idea that Zach or Marbury could come off the bench with destroying the entire lockerroom is crazy. remember why Marbury went AWOL last year? he lost his starting spot.

It is crazy, but can he really play starter minutes anymore?

Marbury's in the best shape of his career? Man, I don't know. I'd say keep him until the trade deadline if that's the case. You should be able to get something for him or you could always buy him out then.

One observer said that he can sense the hate. Take that for what it's worth, but it's clear that his teammates just aren't comfortable around him. Like Nalod said, the trust is gone.

What exactly are we getting for him by the trade deadline? Is he really going to play THAT good and is he going to yield us an Andrew Bynum? I said Bynum, b/c it's in the Knicks best interests to get a player of that calibre in order to take back all the contracts we'll be taking in a trade involving him. His salary is over 20 million! Personally, I don't think we'll be able to get Bynum, so it's not worth it to me. Especially considering that the chemistry between him and the TEAM (Not just any one player or two) is absolutely shot.

Buy him out today.

Well a useless player in Penny Hardaway got us a mid 1st round pick for taking on one extra year in Jalen Rose. I'd have to think if we took on one extra year and Marbury was playing well, we could at least get a mid 1st round pick AND a good young player.

i think the only way he'd accept bench minutes is if he went to a team like Boston. but the idea of him being cool with backing up Duhon is a little out there.

you know, NBA teams do watch the news. they know A) that marbury is a cancer who will likely destroy their team and B) even if they do have a severe need for a PG and really want to take a risk on him that if they wait we will likely buy him out because there's no way he can allowed to play here.

Why would any NBA team give up anything knowing those things? Okay, salary relief, but look around the league, there are not a ton of contracts in the Marbury range and there are really only two that expire in 2010 (meaning we'd take on an extra year of salary and luxury tax for a mid first round pick) - Tracy McGrady and JONeal. we aren't getting either. so, then you are left to take packages of players who expire in 2010 for Marbury and hoping to still get a first round pick? it makes no sense and it's basically paying $40 million (salary + luxury tax) for a first round pick. why do that? just buy him out. send a message that BS is over.

If stephs reigns with an eastern conference team(Miami), boy the re-matches against DUHON and NATE AND CRAW WILL BE CLASSIC TO WATCH.

I really could give a **** about what his fellow loser teammates think of him. I just want him gone because he's the #1 moron out of all of them on the team.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Rather than get rid of Marbs, shouldn't we just bring back Zeke? Zeke knows how to get through to Marbs.

part of the reason no one wants him is that they know he'd try to score a lot of points to make a point rather than try to help his team win the game. he's a selfish little punk and the rest of the world knows it, too.

Expiring contracts are so valuable in today's NBA economy, but I'm more than anxious to put an end to the Marbury era. What a waste this has all been.

My thoughts exactly. It's time for the Knicks and him to move on. Hopefully it will lead us in the right direction and maybe Marbs can get his act together as well
