Lots of great memories there. Not the most comfortable place in the world to watch a game, but completely unmatched big game atmosphere. That's a huge piece of sports history we lost there.

In future baseball games, they better have Yankee Stadium as an unlockable feature.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Wow. All I can say. This whole evening was just so enjoyable. World class spectacle all the way. Absolutely first rate presentation top to bottom and I expected nothing less from the Yankees.

I really got the feeling Pettitte's done. I'm so glad he got the win. What a tremendous competitor. Just a privilege watching him pitch all these years. Not only are we saying goodbye to our beloved Stadium but I really feel like we're closing the chapter on Andy Pettitte as well. Farewell Andy, thanks for everything. You were great!

I used to walk by Yankee Stadium almost everyday when I attended Cardinal Hayes....and everytime, I would spit in its direction.

It was cool when the move "For Love of the Game" was being produced, I was a movie extra for them. One day I went on the field on the break and had my glove with me and thre around with Ricky Ledee. I took some of the grass and other things it was pretty cool to be on the field.

Michael Kay mentioned that the Yankees were hoping Andy would return next year but that the ball was really in his court... i dunno if he's gonna want to pitch next season but the way he finished this one i think it has to leave a bad taste in his mouth & pitching in the new stadium's gotta be something every Yankee will want to experience... i don't think it's over for him, but who knows.

Yo su!

I was also in the bleachers for Donnie's first playoff game too. Ha! I was at both games, including game 2 when Leyritz hit that homer in the rain in the 12th innning (?) to win it! Those were the days when you could actually go to Yankee stadium and buy playoff tickets if you got there early enough. I have PLENTY of stories about that to tell...but I'll keep them for now...

Man that was an amazing series, even though we lost. I remember how Griffey was absolutely unbelievable, as was Edgar Martinez. I think both hit over .700 and Griffey hit 5 homers in a 5 game series. Yet, what I vividly remember was that in game 1 and 2, a certain rookie called Mariano Rivera was the only guy that seemed to be able to get out Griffey.

I was also at the Division Series games against Texas in 1996, and was able to go to Game 6 of the 1996 World Series (after waiting by myself for 25 hours outside Yankee Stadium!) and see them win it all in person as I had always dreamed. I have to admit, it was a bit anti-climactic, and I think part of the reason I am not as crazy of a fan anymore.

I already miss the old bleachers, especially the cowbell chant which I wish they had kept.

The bleachers were sure crazy in the playoffs in 1995. You remember that? Traditionally they were general admission, but when you bought your tickets they told people that it was by seat. This caused huge problems between the bleacher creature types and others. Man there were sure a lot of crazy fights and really foul language, insults, object throwing there in 1995 and 1996. I remember when Pinella pulled his team off the field when bleacher fans were throwing batteries at Jay Buhner. Bleacher fans were also throwing objects at box seats (suck!) fans..haha. Damn that was cazy then, but hella fun. I never got hurt, and as long as you didn't make yourself a target you were fine.

I remember in the 1996 series against Texas a young teenager was wearing a black University of Texas Long Horns baseball cap (which were cool to rock back then) and some cats swiped it off his head, took out a lighter and burned it for all to see!

Well, themz dayz have been long gone, even when Yankee Stadium was still around. I missed a chance to go last week, but I'll never forget all of the memories.

my main man ike...

we sat in the bleachers. a guy passed around a big ol' spliff to which my friends and i all got high off of. my friend was so zooted that he left in the 2nd inning to get a drink and dissappeard the rest of the night. he was so far gone that he left the stadium to go get a snapple across the street and couldn't get back in.

i got the tix for those games from ticketmaster after they clinched. dang, those were the days.

the mattingly homer stands out as my all time favorite sports moment in history. i thought there was going to be a riot. anything after that in the series didn't matter.

griffey + edgar didn't make an out that series. it was disgusting. and wetteland choked in game 4 and our good friend black jack mcdowall came up *huge* in game 5 (sigh). and yes, that was mariano's coming out party in the relief...

I never went to a Yankee game until last year their last playoff game in the stadium. And Joe Torre's last game as a Yankee manager.
