the suns are in a different place as a franchise. knicks are trying to get back to respectability in the eyes of the nba, media, and their own fanbase. they want their fans to have fun again, and d'antoni's offense should bring the fun back.

there's no blame being spread. it was the writer of the article that put that line in as his own personal opinion. the quote was about amare taking a knock about d'antoni not practicing defense. but there's no blame issued about them not winning a title.

Every franchise in the association isn't trying to win a championship !

Some are satisfied with being just entertaining ! D'antoni was a coach for one of those franchises.

This isn't the 70's where teams score 141 points on a good night, teams win because guys have to buckledown and play on both sides of the court.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

In a few years when Porter has moved on then Stoudemire will be complaining about how he was a task master and that he's glad he has a new coach that will allow him to get his joy back.
I just hope that people will like me

i dunno... Amare complaining about the system of a coach that has netted him stardom over the past few years seems a bit silly to me... but i guess he'd easily trade in his 25 & 9 statline for more of an emphasis on defense while his offensive stats suffer.

I've never once seen Amare give an ounce of effort on the defensive end. Not once.

obviously b/c d'antoni told him not to...

I actually still vividly remember amare blocking a tim duncan shot in the play offs- perhaps 2 years ago, maybe 3.

We'll see if they win more games or not this year. Just like we'll see if the talk of Marbury, Crawford, Nate & all our other losers will be hot air, or backed up.

what i wanna see outta D'Antoni first & foremost is having these guys play some team oriented ball... sure, playing D would be great but these guys don't even know how to play anything other than 1 on 1 style game from what i've seen over the years... for once i'd like to see a drawn up play when we need a basket other than giving the ball to Jamal at the top of the key & everyone else standing beyond the 3 pt line twiddling their thumbs.

Beautifully said. How many times have we had the possession at the end of the game and they come out of the time out, and I'm like WTF were they just talking about? Which Burger King JJ and Eddy are going to after the game?

Blah Blah Blah...Is there no loyalty in the world anymore. How about some class? If anything why would you even give a media person a chance to twist your words against a man that obviously helped you get to where you are now? This proves that he has not washed away the stench of Dinglebury.

Could care less, amare is a good player, a thug, and someone that doesn't take pride in his own defense. Mike maximized the players skills in order to win games which they did as well as anyone.

I think the redeem team and the coaches speak for themselves with endorsements for mikes style. If Kerr wanted defense out there he should have looked to bring in someone like Sammy D not shaq he could have got better value for Mario around the league.

something tells me he'll be saying he's not being used right if he's asked to play defense inside & block shots while other players take on some of his offensive role.

Amare Stoudemire averaged 25 points 9 rebounds 2 blocks per game and shot 60% --I sincerely doubt he was anyone's problem. Pheonix matches up short with almost every team and in the end the mismatches in the playoffs dont work. That is why i suspect Dantoni is a Knick coach

I would submit to you that D'Antoni did more with that team than anyone had a reason to expect! You try and make the case that they had the most talent if you can! You and everyone else knows that they had mostly 2nd tier talent and D'ANTONI is the reason that they overachieved every year except last year, when they made changes and it didn't come together.

Nash wasn't an MVP when he came there, but he benefitted from what D'Antoni was doing and he became an MVP player. Amare benefitted greatly from the system D'Antoni had him playing in.

In regards to defense, that team played defense. They weren't a great defensive team, but as I pointed out that team had one of the highest Point Differentials in the league and you get that from being able to STOP people!!! To emphasize that point just look at Denver and Golden State who also score a lot, but don't defend and their point Diffs over the last few years hasn't been anywhere near that of PHX. Only this year did PHX slip defensively and it showed in their Point Diff, which wasn't as good as previous years. GO LOOK IT UP!

excellent post.. before nash got the pheonix, he was losing minutes to NVE in the playoffs, Raja bell was a bench player elsewere, and boris diaw was the invisible man here in Atlanta.. amare was very green and not the player he is now.. All of these guys benefited under D'antoni's sytem, and as you said, they were second and third tier type talent. I keep hearing people talk as if the suns had a stacked team, and that just was not the case, especially when D'antoni got there.. His system made a lot of those guys careers..

yeah well if u'd read up a few posts u'd have seen i already pointed that out... whiners like him who complain about the very coach's system that allowed him to reach those heights of stats should really just keep their mouths shut if u ask me.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
