In perfect position to spend 45 million on a plane, his net worth isn't 100 million so spending half of your net worth on a plane is par for the course. NBA players are brain dead, not all of them, but a large majority can't spend it quick enough. I have a friend that is AI's banker and he said the guy never has more than 10k in the bank at once 10k, he has made over 100 million, you almost feel sorry for these guys.

He is about as mentally secure as the last person that put a tat on his head, that guy made more money then steph and now owns millions.

Wilbon on PTI, "lets hope he can't be this stupid"

You disagreed with me and then reiterated my post. I'm guessing this is another poor decision by Marbs. That's my instinct. But since I give people the benefit of the doubt I'm guessing it's possible that this purchase is beneficial to him. Not saying it's likely, but anything in the world is possible.

May be he will play in Moscow and Jet is a welcome gift from the owner.
For a lot of guys in Russia 50 mils is less that one day income.

Diddy's right. Even Jay-Z flies first class now unless he's going short distances. My girl was on a flight with Beyonce a couple of weeks ago. Rich people don't stay rich by being stupid. Unless you're wealthy, not rich, wealthy...you need to hop your ass on a commercial joint.

In no way is Steph financially secure enough to spend $45 million on anything. Not too many people are. He was broke after his first NBA deal because he tried to floss with the 3 Bentleys and **** he couldn't pronounce and put everyone in Coney Island on his "payroll". Toward the end of his tenure in Jersey, he cut everyone off and tried to invest his money instead of ****ting it away, which is why the Telfair clan hated him because they were among those told to get jobs.

He does have successful business ventures outside of the cheap shoes and NBA contract so I doubt he'll ever go completely broke but with his mental issues (which weren't as bad a few years ago), who knows? I've heard he didn't buy the plane outright, but is part of a group of buyers. Either way, it's not the brightest idea, nor does it make logical sense since he only goes from NY to Maryland, Atlanta, LA, Phoenix or Vegas anyway. But then again, this IS Steph we're talking about. For all we know he might come in to camp talking about how he took pilot lessons so he could fly his own jet and be "closer to God" while doing that stupid dance of his.

LOL.....It's so true, rich people are some of the stingiest people on the planet. That's why they are rich.

couple things about private jets

if it is a new purchase- you are on a waiting list a few years out- so he might have put in a few years ago to buy this.

And often, you do pool together in groups and you own a fraction.

Still, not sure it makes sense- there are other programs like jet cards that you buy and they give you lets say 10 hours of flight time on similar jet for $25k.

And at $45MM, you are looking at a top end type gulfstream or other - the kind of aircraft that can go from LA to Japan without needing to refuel.

It might be a business venture in itself since the fractional owners might charter it out 100% of the time.

The resale market for jet aircraft, though cooled a bit, is red hot and you won't lose money - in fact, some used air craft are worth more than when they were new- all the rich petro sheiks & russian robber barons want theirs, and don't want to wait 3-5 years.

There are many possibilities behind this purchase and we don't know what is going on because we don't know Marbs. The one thing we do know is that he is a knucklehead.

Stephon Marbury will be smarter than all of us when martial law comes to the U.S and all the borders will be closed.

He will be able to fly to italy and stay there while americans go thru drama.

I believe steph got the memo.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
