His track record, does he have one? His moves were garbage. His drafting is suspect and his trades were less than stellar...

Lets not forget in the Hill deal he did sign a player that was injured every year and gave up Ben Wallace who become the best defender in the NBA for 3 plus years and an AllStar and has had a far superior career in that period of time than Hill did.

Very subpar all around I have no idea he these guys keep getting hired.

The guy is extremely religious. I hope Lebron gets marry before 2010 or else he wouldn't be on our free agent list. Just ask Shaq about Gabriel thoughts about having children out of wedlock.
Suhr has a good eye for the draft but I am not sad to see him gone.

You are getting him confused w/ the Orlando GM who preceded him. Pat something was his name. He drafted Shaq and Penny.

You are referring to Pat Williams and no I am not confusing the two.

I think you are. Pat Williams adopted 19 children, teaches Sunday School, Speaks for the Billy Graham Crusade and has written 50+ books, many of them with religious themes like this one:

Aside from his work in Orlando, Gabriel has done a good job of aiding the Portland rebuild. While some might want to nitpick at some of Gabriels choices, he's been involved in building winners and that's very important. He won't be the GM here and he will be helping Donnie where Donnie sees fit.

This is a great change from having Isiah do every single job in the front office and it's good to know that Donnie is surrounding himself with people that all have a job to do.

Pat Williams is religious as well but it's was Gabriel influence that Shaq had a problem with. Williams and Shaq had and still have a good relationship together. Gabriel thought that Shaq should marry his baby mama and Shaq took some offense to it. No problem with Gabriel thoughts on the subject but he tried to pull that stuff at a time when Shaq could opt out of his contract. Bad timing on his part. Williams didn't do much to step in on the negotiations as he probably should have and has been stated as that being a mistake.

The Orlando owner I know is extremely religous and has written several books himself. I think that was a team-wide directive he had there on character. I wasn't able to find any articles that specifically mentioned Gabriel and any of his beliefs

How many GMs does the team need? What we needed was one fresh new aggresive one instead of retreads from various organizations. Who is next Doug Moe?

What exactly are you crying about? All I see is you crying in every topic, whether it be Obama, Knicks, or anything else.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Briggs he is not being hired as a GM. read the article, he is in a newly created role, one with a secific duty, it says nothing about him comming here to be a GM..... geez... stop with the, sky is falling routine...

Another point on Gabriel - he was with Portland when they made the trade of Zach to the Knicks....essentially dumping Zach during their rebuilding. I imagine he is not too keen to keep Zach on the Knicks now.
