Here is the thing with JR- and why I think Briggs has gushed for him- when I watched him play, he just seemed to be able to get anywhere on the court on offense- effortless- like a man going against boys. And during the play offs, everyone else on his squad played small & scared- he really seemed fearless.

Maybe he doesn't have a high BB IQ- and we certainly have too many of those guys.

Who knows franco. That could be the rap on him although when I've seen him play, all I've ever seen is huge athleticism and production. But your other points are valid and speak volumes - dude went for over 18 a game on 53% from the floor in the playoffs last yr. - and that was against the Lakers, matched up against the best player in the world in Kobe Bryant. Kid more than held his own.

And how's this - JR averaged almost 16 ppg in less than 22 mins. last year in the second half. And that's after they got AI. To me that shows a lot of character and a sense of pride as in, 'I can play and I'm not gonna let Iverson or anyone else overshadow me.'

I don't know too much about JR's attitude. I've heard stories and that worries me, but I know that the guy can play. Under normal circumstances I would kill for him. But I know that with the new regime there is no chance we are going after a guy like this under these circumstances. So I don't worry about it. After all we've been through you will have to be an absolute star to play for the Knicks if you have any personal blemishes. That's just the way it is.

Good call Bip and you're right. But let me ask you, does it hurt to call back the Nuggets and see if we can get something done here. That's all I'm saying - I wanna read in the paper that Donnie contacted Denver and either Denver or Smith didn't go for it. No problem. You move on. It wasn't in the cards then, you know. Remember, a five yr. deal is out of the question (seems to be out of the question with a lot of teams right now, including the Nuggets). I agree with you guys there. But 2 yrs. 15 mil. is right up our alley and something Smith might except just to move on and get some stability in his life right now. 2 yrs. 15 mil. No salary cap hindrance for the upcoming FA bonanza. Strickly on our terms. I have a hard time believing Denver wouldn't be interested esp. if we started throwing names like Curry, Lee, Robinson, Collins and/or Malik's expiring deal in the mix. And so far Denver's done nothing but leave this kid out there to twist in the wind - and this is after he played very well for them last year. Very strange. Seems to me that if they were serious about keeping him with the club, something would've been done already. A S+T could definitely be worked out here. This is too good a player with too good a future to not make the phone call and start some dialogue imho.

Hey you and me both. We are on the exact same page and want the exact same thing. That being said, I'm almost 100% that there is no way in hizzell that Walshoni are going to go after him.
I just hope that people will like me
