I like Balkman's hustle but hasn't anyone noticed that he gets hurt often. I felt that Balkman regressed with his time with the Knicks. He was better his rookie year. I don't think that Balkman will be missed that much, he jst didn't develop that mid range jumper that he needed badly.

Balkman sustained an injury early last year and never really recovered.
They used to say the same thing about Marcus Camby when he was with the Knicks... and how did that work out?

Nuggets fleece the Knicks again!

That Camby deal would have worked out well had McDyess not gotten hurt. Or if the Knicks just kept McDyess and let his contract expire instead the freaking knicks managed to make a worse situation worse with the addition of Marbury. That deal wonders for Denver, Suns and Pistons.

the McDyess trade wasnt good but I understood. Knicks tried to add a 20/10 post player next to Houston and Sprewell who were still in their prime. That team won 37 games without McDyess. You have to think that with him they would have gone deep into the playoffs in a weak East. Meanwhile Camby missed 95 games over his last 3 years with the Knicks. At some point you have make a call. It was the wrong call but one you can understand. Cant really beef with the Knicks on that one.

Guys like Balkman always look great because they play at a pace thats faster than everyone on the floor... for 10 minutes. Kind of like Ariza when he first came on the scene. Then you give them some real minutes and realize that guys that cant shoot and dribble really arent that usefull in the NBA after all

JYD was an effective player for some good teams in the past doing the things i always envisioned Balk would be able to do for us someday... it's a shame that didn't get a chance to pan out... he was an exciting player to watch when he got it going.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

JYD actually had a decent mid range jumper and could handle the ball a bit. He was also about 30 pounds heavier than Balkman. Who knows... maybe you are right. I just dont think it matters

I disagree about Balkman's handle - far better than I think you give him credit for. How many times did he grab a rebound in traffic, and push the ball up and single handedly start a fast break?

Balkman is a role player & great for 10-20mins a game. When he steps on the court, he makes things happen.

A better comparison would be JJ2 who becomes the invisible man for long stretches.

And in terms of comparing Balkman to Q, Q might be a better citizen, might be smarter in terms of running D'Antoni's offense, is a better shooter (but that isn't saying much), the fact is Balkman is a far better rebounder and defender than Q can ever dream of becoming.

This move to me is a head scratcher. But, with League Pass, I'll get to keep up with Balkman in Denver.
