Curry, Lee & Chandler for Josh Smith & Za Za

sign me up!

If I'm trading Curry and Lee, noway am I including Chandler in that mix. Balk or Nate but not Chanlder.

Curry has 0 value, in this deal he is pretty much just cap-fodder. We'd have to trade Lee and Chandler to pick up Josh Smith who is a shoe-in for MikeD's offense and would be a huge player for us.

I thought Mike D' wants players with high BB IQ. I would say that Josh's BB IQ is somewhere at or near Nate's.

bb iq is an underrated trait. I'm glad MickeyD appreciates it. Also Josh isn't much of an outside shooter. However, what Josh does do well, he does very well. Still, I like our young forwards Wilson and Gallo. Let's stick with them for a while and give them a chance to develop and let's see who we can pick up at shooting guard and/or at center. Briggs had a good idea a while back about a certain shooting guard on Denver also named Smith. He would be a nice fit and might be attainable.

atlanta's inept ownership situation almost makes Dolan look like a capable headman. Almost.

Other than the number 1 pick, Atlanta doesnt get back any other value. Harrington is on the down side and Bellineli will be back in spain whne his contract is up. Josh Smith is better than anything they are gettig back. Bad trade for Atlanta if this is true.

Atlanta needs to clean up their team anyway......if Josh goes to Detroit that would be kinda awesome.

Too bad our Knicks are just gonna let contracts play out and sign guys just to fill roster spots for the time being.

who do we have that would appeal to ATL to deal Josh Smith to us? Gallo & D Lee?

LOL. You are kidding yourself if you think that Atlanta would want Gallinari. I think you are misjudging how much appeal that Gallinari has concerning other teams.

it was a question... i don't see anything we have that would appeal to the Hawks, those 2 being the most likely candidates & still i don't think it would be enough to land him.

Well nobody is saying the Knicks have anyone that can pull off a sign and trade for Josh Smith.

The Knicks could have been players in a lot of movement but it seems like the Knicks are just waiting for the ice to melt on its own.

Josh Smith is the 3rd star young forward restricted free agent who is rumored not to sign with their team and a possible sign and trade. (Deng, Okafor the others) If we can get one of these guys for either Curry or Zach plus some young talent (something reasonable) then I say we should do it. They will command a 5 yr probably $60 million or more contract. But just waiting for 2010 and HOPING for a star UFA is a lot of crap. Being terrible for 2 years doesn't work for me. We should be proactive now. Then as Martin pointed out in another thread, we could always do a sign and trade for someone like LeBron if he is available. But if not, we have one proven key player in place for a Knicks revival.

For Josh Smith - check out the link on the top 10 blocks in the first round 2008 playoffs uner Watch Videos. Josh Smith had 3 of the 10, on Kevin Garnet. Really Nice. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/josh_smith/

which player is this?

by the way I agree with you--you either go for it or you completetly try to rebuild. I have absolutely no idea what we are doing with duhon and roberson. do people really think that the Knicks no more than the other 29 teams in the league on duhon--the same player who the Bulls nearly cut last year? He's a back up PG who will be thrusted into the starting position although he does not have starting talent.
This is still the sam train of thought i.e Jared Jefferies Jerome James and then their predecessor Howard Eisley and Weatherspoon. We NEVER use the MLE well--but the obnoxious part is the new/old regime--the same people who brought us jefferies james etc... is making the decisions on Duhon. They believe they know more than the other 29 teams and they can fix it by bringing in various top notch coaches like Lenny Wilkens Larry Brown and Now Dantoni---sorry this is the same old sht and they have a terrible idea going on. Its either you rebuild completely and remove everyone or you dont. Duhon and Roberson????

What I meant was that if we were able to trade for Deng or Josh Smith now, then, if we couldn't get LeBron in 2010, we would at least have Deng, or Smith, etc. as 1 very good young player to rebuild with. Obviously we need more than one....but at least we'd have one. And probably a few other pieces by 2010.

Getting LeBron is possible, but every other team is thinking how to get him also. or Chris Bosh,....Wade,and their present teams are trying to figure out how to keep him. Can you imagine what the Cleveland fans will do if LeBron signs elsewhere. Cleveland Mgmt will do everything they can to keep him. Just imagine if LeBron was a Knick and then signed with another team. People would tear apart MSG.

So we should start assembling key pieces now if players like Deng or Josh Smith bacome available.

A bird in the hand.... There's something to that approach. In Deng, Smith and also Okafor, we're talking about players on Bosh's level - though not close to LeBron. But what if we wait and LeBron decides to stay home or go somewhere else.
