As a 5th guard, I'll take the potential of AR over the lack of potential of Mardy Collins.

This is the key point. How often do you find on the cheap a 5th guard who can not only shoot the lights out, but now you also want a solid defensive player too. There aren't even that many decent defenders in the NBA period, much less spot duty sharpshooters.

What is this back to pollyanna stuff? Roberson barely played in the NBA and DID NOT shoot well in the SL games. And just what pro shooting guard is this guy going to defend--yes rare find we got him on the cheap

I'll use this for example

Gerald Green signed the same exact contract as Roberson cash value wise. Green is still 22 years old--has already won an NBA dunk contest at 6-8 210 who has already averaged 10 points per game in the NBA. Like Donnie Nelson said--the kid should be coming out of college now and he probably screwd up his development and they intend to see if they can get it straight. There is nOT one fan--not one ACTUAL fan on this site who would rather ahev Roberson over Green--why werent we the team getting Greene instead of Roberson?

We're the ONLY team--the ONLY team who would give Duhon 6mm per--I mean we couldnt make better usage out of all that cash--then they try to sell you that Duhon is the second coming of steve nash:(

Sorry but I see some of the same BAD signs --overpaying players who dont deserve it---not having the baility to find players in the scrap heap like other teams or past Knick teams. How much potential does Roverson have?

Duhon - We upped the per year $$ to not lose him to Orlando & not commit any 2010 dollars. I thought was fairly well documented.

Geez, come on dude, how much can one guy whine? What's next, you don't like the the popcorn at MSG?

Why don't we wait and see about about Roberson? They liked him a tonin practice and didn't want him to bolt. Now they'll take him to training camp and preseason and see what he can do. If he doesn't blow the doors off they cut him. And guess what- there will be plenty of unsigned and minimum guys in the training camps making an impact that they could pick up. With Roberson the coach saw a guy who could fit his style and wanted to see what he can do so. So they made a small investment in him- that's it. I'm really surprised this is such a big deal here- yeah he looked like **** in games, but every single reporter (and they actually got to see practice this year), raved about what he was doing, and several Knick players came on TV talking about how how the guy wasn't missing at all. So are they so crazy or stupid for wanting to sign him.

Isn't it Dale & Thomas Popcorn? If so, I don't like it!

Gerald Green is a name guy that couldn't get time in a rebuilding situation in Boston, then couldn't hold down a roster spot in a rebuilding situation in Minny. Gerald Green is not a good basketball player.

Now AR hasn't been a good pro yet either, but he's an athletic 6'2" shooter that Donnie Walsh & Mike D'antoni like. Probably facilitates a trade that includes Mardy Collins.

Go watch some archive summer games of Anthony Morrow and tell me that Roberson is in his class. Both are catch and shoot players but one is 6-5 and can also defend rebound and pass[oh yeah he's a better shooter as well] now where were we and why so high and fast on Roberson? If you are going to bring in someone bring in a Gerald greene or a Morrow--why settle on a very small 2 guard who showed no real skill other than a quick jumpshot that wssnt exactly dropping for him either? This kind of brings me to the overall game plan--its either you really try to win or you dont--this seems really halfway down the middle and it's the worst place to be in sport---bringing in duhon and roberson --i really dont get what we are doing?

Yeah the same guys who told everybody that Curry was in good shape coming into training camp the last two seasons. Forgive me if I have my doubts.

*hopefully*:)

there is a kid out of Georgia Tech who has been the best 3 point shooter over the course of both summer leagues and also shot 45% at GT from 3 point land last year. He's also much bigger than Roberson at 6-5 215/can rebound defend and pass better as well. He did sign a one year contract with a Ukraine team but there is a simple buyout to it. Right now he is leading the RMR in scoring and looks like an awesome 3 point shooter. If were looking for a cheap 3 point specialist--I think the kind that are 6-5 and actually have proven they can shoot well against their peers in games with a nice 4 year tarck record at a very good school and just turned 22 is much more appealing than the undersized one-dimensional Roberson.

And his name is?

I agree about signing Roberson - how many midgets are we going to put in our back court?

Jees that would help Anthony morrow

Gerald Greene's putting up some decent numbers in limited action in DAL my friends.

You have to take summer league for what it is---shopping. You have a great pool of talent and if a guy who goes undrafted and was a good player in college who has the physicality to succeed in the NBA as in athletic ability size strength and skills--whether this guy is on your team or not and he excells against the top tier talent at the same age--that should be a target player. Remember how I called Marquis Daniels a few years ago--it's not that hard--you have to look at every game and team and look for the players that have really stood out AND have the package i listed above. I just don't think the Knicks are doing the best thing for the team going with Roberson--not even close--heck he has no upside --he doesnt have the physical package and his skill set is limited. Why not go with Morrow--they had every opportunity---he was a 6-5 player who was perfect for this system and showed it yet we fixated on Roberson??

We couldve had a great 3 point shooter all these years and we took Anthony Roberson instead. Typical Knicks.

I was thinking of this when going over the OKC roster knowing they are so over the cap. Instead of offering one of these SG 3 point specialist 8-9mm why not just go to GS and see if theyd like to remove 3.5mm off their cap(which is 11mm to them with the tax penalty) if they trade us Morrow for cap space.
