I suppose as a 2nd round pick (on the Knicks, no less!), he'd already be waaaay ahead of the curve by actually getting playing time, or simply making the team at all.

If he turns into a starter at some in the future, that'd be incredible. If he turns into a top 15 player in the league, that would be completely fantastic--- and while Lampe kind of fell into Layden's lap, Layden would deserve a promotion for developing the Knicks' foreign scouting program. It would also continue his legacy of "finding" hidden 2nd round gems (though in this case, Lampe wasn't so hidden).

But I suppose we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves.

If you read closely then you will see I said he is more like Gasol than Dirk, I never bashed Ginobili because I didn't know much about him( another twist) Next playa has nothing to do with this. 1. First of all I will admit that I underestimated the euro game, I was wrong on that but I never called dirk a bum,i killed him because I though he was soft and not on the level, of Duncan, Garnett, T-Mac.

2. I have always like Gasol, and I see you keep bringing up 3 or 4 names, and guess why, because only a handful of euro players are making major impacts.

3. I didn't and still don't like the euro game as a whole, but over the last year or so, guys like skita, Carbarcapa, Parker, jaric and even Ginobili have shown a game that is a good mix of euro and american styles. And I think Lampe fits into that mold..

4. And to correct you, the basis of the argument that went on between Pike, myself and ralphyboy was that if the USA sent over a true olympic team with shaq, dincan, kidd, kobe ,etc that it would not be a contest..
