You guys didn't think the corrupt david "the don' stern dictatorship was coming to and end.

Well this country is where the players are born and raised , but Europe is going to reap the benefits of fix games and gambling by NBA officials . The integriety of the pro game is gonna suffer greatly.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

NBA might not be losing stars, but if they being to lose a lot of middle tier players the quality of play will deteriorate greatly.

I'm not sure these guys are even middle tier and it definitely isn't a lot of players.

This is only really the beginning. If the NBA loses a half dozen Nachbar/Childress type players this year and some greater number the next it'll start to hurt.

The NCAA has just begun to lose players to Europe. The NBA is starting to lose good European players, and now quite a few borderline-to-good American NBA players have to seriously consider playing in Europe.

The NBA and NCAA have some serious thinking to do!

You guys' boy Bush is partly to blame what with his destroying the economy. It's actually impacted pro sports!

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

The NBA and NCAA sitting together is part of this problem even without Bush.

I really don't see this as a huge problem... How long can those leagues continue to pay maixum prices for middle of the road talent.. I like childress a lot, but there are a lot of guys who can fill his role in the NBA.. we are not going to lose stars overseas, we are not going to lose borderline stars over there either, so I don't see where this hurts much..... This just opens doors for other guys to flourish in the NBA... If the euroleagues are going to build their foundation with the anthony parkers and josh childress's of the world, then let them have at it.....

Its the tip of the iceberg.....2010 is coming. What if Lebron or one of the other dudes jump out there?

Marbs said he would go to italy to play.....what if he does? The NBA plantation is going down......but this was the dream of Stern right? Global game?

you are kidding right? why would lebron even consider going overseas? come on..

if beckham can get $200+ mil, then lebron can get that easy in euro...which makes him alot closer to being a billionaire than a simple 5 year $90 mil deal here.

with that said, i don't see my man trying to learn french.

I don't think it opens the doors for other guys to flourish so much as it dilutes the talent level. And I think we will not lose stars or borderline stars either, but it can impact the next couple of levels of players. Not hugely, but significantly.

Does anyone think that the NCAA really cares if a hadfull of top players leave and goto Europe instead of attending college? IMO it will not affect much at all. There are still enough quality players to put on a good product. People are much more fans of a school or team than the actual players on the teams.

Beckam was pretty much considered on the downside, almost washed up in the euro soccer leagues.. come on man, he was no longer a huge star, guys like renaldo, ronaldhino, are the big stars and earners... It is similar to marbury going to europe right now and getting 70 mil.... Fading US star trying to lend credibility to a rising sports market.... Beckam would not have come to the US in his early 20's!!!!

Lebron is not going overseas!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it even dilutes that talent.. Just think, there are a ton of overpaid mid level talent types of players... This just opens the doors for other mid talent guys to get paid....

The college game is already suffering from the loss of underclassmen to the NBA, one of the main reasons for the "19 years old rule". Losing top stars to Europe is a problem that will develop for them.

The NCAA has always been about the stars. That is why people watch the Dukes, Michigans, and Kentuckys. And what if players who aren't even the tip-top stars start trying to carve out a European career early? Does that not impact the college pool?

I think the NBA and NCAA have become arrogant in the belief America has a monopoly on basketball. We once had a monopoly on automobiles too, look how that is turning out.

How are you measuring how much the college game is suffering? TV ratings? Revenue?

david stern and his ban of badrefs is what's gonna hurt the NBA if Donaghy keeps naming names.

The same problem that is plaguing the NBA: Quality of play. Remember the days when guys like Derrick Coleman, Mourning, and Ewing would play 4 years? When a guy would dominate college ball and enter the NBA as a pretty sure thing?

I've seen some pretty good cllege games with some pretty good players recently, but it doesn't compare to the early 90's where a Big East game would have 5-6 pro players on the floor at any one time.

I can't speak to profits or TV ratings, but from my own personal observations college basketball interest has waned. These days only a few college basketball players are well known, 15 years ago even pro fans would know the top 10-20 players in the college game.

Make no mistake, the quality of play problem in both leagues is the reason for the 19/1 year of college rule, and they are trying to change it to 20 years/2 years of college.

Unless you think there is a different reason they are trying to keep the best young players in college and out of the NBA longer?

Soccer just had a head start on the NBA, but the NBA is an international game. I could definitely see the leagues out there start poaching players. We already have seen the game being equalized in the international tournaments. Childress could fit very well within the European concept even though he's not a huge scorer.

V, just wait until India get on the basketball kick. I can see a lot of these players booking it to play for Mumbai, New Deli, and Banglore. They got a lot of Billionaires.

India is attracting players from around the world to play Cricket for their cities. This is all a part of Globalization.

it is funny. Most fans say that the NCAA is better than the Euroleagues.. I mean that is what most gallanari detractors used to discredit him.. Now all of a sudden the NBA's future is in trouble because a few average players think about going for a larger payday from some euroleague team looking to overpay for american talent?
