Camby does not replace Elton Brand. I don't care what Steiner says. He grabs the boards and blocks but he's not a low post presence at all. They still need to find a PF to focus on offense.

Don't tell me Kaman's going to fill that role.

Unless they are moving Kaman, I will say that is what Dunleavy intends. No way they still acquire a PF and have Kaman come off the bench. Sterling would have a heart attack.

i think dunleavy's thinking kaman can fill that scoring void. he did well last season w/o brand there. it looks like dunleavy's also looking at 2010...so instead of committing that cap room to a 5-6 year deal for smith/iggy/deng/zach, he has camby for 2 years and still alot of cap space in 2010.

who knows but it does appear that LA took the deal that we refused. They can just put Camby at PF

Whether the offer for Zach was legit or not...it still takes a potential suitor for Zach off the board. There wasn't many potential trade partners as is. This is very discouraging. I'm going to hold off on ripping Walsh for his first major blunder because it still isn't confirmed that the Clips made a legit offer for Zach. But if its true, Walsh blew it big time.

Thats exactly why I think the Zach rumor was true. Their first objective was to find someone that could bring that offense from the low post as Brand. No matter how much you hate him, Zach is good in that department. So, when the Knicks deal didn't work, Camby came in.

Another thing, how old is Camby? Because you have to take that into account. Either way, Zach's value, even at an all-time low for most of you, is more than an expiring contract and a second rounder. At least make it a first

could we trade Zach for Camby? Call em Walsh!

If Walsh walked from a second round pick, then he blew it.

Camby has been healthy as he has gotten older, but still putting up huge numbers.

Wasn't he defensive player of the year?

What has Zach won? Worst Team Mate of the year?

Maybe the Clips will redirect him to NY !! Nuggs wanted cap space that we didn't have but Clips do. Clips want Zach for offense and we want Camby for defense so the second part of the trade will redirect him here. Had to be done this way because Zach make much more than Camby !!!

The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired forward Marcus Camby from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for a future second round draft pick. The NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 2006-07, Camby comes to the Clippers with a reputation as one of the top defenders in the league. A 12-year veteran, Camby led the NBA in blocked shots last year (3.61) for the third straight season, becoming only the second player in NBA history to lead the league in three consecutive seasons. “I love this acquisition for the current make up of our team,” Clippers head coach Mike Dunleavy said. “We are getting a consummate pro who is maybe the best team defender in the league and who has 60 playoff games under his belt.”

Camby for who? There must be more in the works, because I see Kaman and Camby as redundant.

oohah

Two great rebounding, shot-blocking big men are never redundant. They'll defend the interior better than any other team in the league. Camby's quick enough to play PF. Camby and Kaman combined for 26 RPG and 6.4 blocks/game last season. That's just insane. Those two had more blocks/game than any of the 28 other ENTIRE teams had!

Now that Camby is in LA, can we throw Zach or Curry to Denver? They are pretty thin up front with only Martin there now.

Uh, they traded Camby for nothing to get rid of his salary. They don't want a worse player and contract.

they're two big men without a low post game. While I like Camby, if I were the clips GM, I'd have preferred Zach.
