I think the kid Roberson has more game than Mardy. Mardy is not even a good point guard. He lacks the ability to get to the paint, take his man off the dribble, his passing is bad, and push the tempo. I really don't see where he fits in with this offense. The only people that impressed by Mardy are Knick fans. If Mardy was cut by the Knicks today I bet you he might not even get picked up by any teams.

I disagree about his ability to get into the lane- his rookie year when he got time, he was able to get into the lane.

Granted, its not like a many guards (Marbury, Ellis, et al) that get in with quickness.

Last year was a wash- I think if he gets a chance, he might do well.

Mardy is slow and if a player is not quick they normally have a quick first step off the dribble to get to the lane. Ellis is quick and Marbury has one of the quickest first step in the game. Does Mardy have a quick first step?

If a player does not have a quick first step, or a good dribble, or is not quick in genernal they will not get in the paint.

As far as Mardy playing good his first year, many of those games were blowout so who was exactly he getting to the lane on?

Do you really think Mardy is a guy that can get to the lane or create off the dribble? We are also talking about getting to the paint on a regular bases. Every point guard needs to do that especially if he can't shoot.

I wonder if Mardy has trade value for JJ Redick for example.

I just think he's a limited player when all is said and done. To me his absolute ceiling is as a 6th man. Hope I'm wrong, but thats just what I see.

Got to give him a chance. I think he hurt his knee--I believe at some point and put on some weight. He is a 6-6 PG which is rare. Let his play from here within dictate what is future is with the Knicks. He did have one heckuva finish two years ago. A guy like Mardy needs a second chance with what went on here. This will be a more guard-friendly team. You could compare him to Raja Bell a litle bit when he was with Philly--his game kept getting better and he turned into a fine ball player. Mardy has that size in the backcourt that can really help.
