Wilson Chandler had a monster game. Almost looked like he didnt belong on this summer league team. Played well on both ends of the court. Very Marionesque. His jumpshot was consistent and his handle is vastly improved (however still needs improvement). Might be able to start next year.
Danillo Galinari seemed like he didn't belong in the NBA in the first half, but towards the end of the second quarter he showed promise. He has good form on his J even though he didnt hit a 3, you can see he is a shooter. He also has good handles. The CROSSOVER was the same crossover God Shamgod (Youtube him) used to do in college. Gallo showed great hustle must his overall defense was mediocre at best. He isn't as strong as people claim he is. Was pushed around down low on defense and when he was driving 9 even though I thought he got fouled alot). Probably won't start next year but he has upside.
Balkman was Balkman. He showed a slightly improved handle but overall the same player.
Mardy Collins was the most complete player in my eyes. He was all over the place. He picked up the passing duties because Roberson's passing skills are quite limited. Mardy definately impressed today. He lost weight and gained some quickness and hops ( almost made a monster slam on two defenders from the dotted line). His progression might give Nate some thing to worry about.
If the New York Knicks are the Eastern Conference PHX then Roberson is a poor man's Leandro Barbosa. He doesn't have Barbosa's speed or handle but he can shoot the **** out of the ball. Might make the team for instant offense but we have Nate and Nate is better.
I was looking for more from Delonte Holland. Within 10 seconds of being put into the game he hit a 20 ft jumpshot. Too bad that was his only shot. I tried to focus on his defense but he wasnt in the game long enough.
Von Wafer wasn't that great either.
Everyone else didn't get enough playing time to judge.
Scary, but I pretty much put up the same post in another thread on this forum, so I will readily say that your analysis was dead on.
I think Gallinari's D was better than mediocre, though, perhaps because I did not know what to expect. He really needs some lower body strength. Took him awhile to get his shooting confidence, but when his shot came around it was a thing of beauty to watch.
You were dead on with Chandler and Mardy. I think that Chandler might be starting by the end of the year though, or at least getting starter's minutes. Mardy looked great. I call him a poor man's Andre Miller (When playing with confidence.). This was better than he played at the end of his rookie season, especially his shooting touch. If he is brough along the right way by D'Antoni, he can be an excellent backup PG.
Balkman WAS Balkman, and I wonder if that is enough on this team. NO improvement on his shot. A dependable jumper would make him invaluable.
Roberson can shoot, but he really does seem like another Nate, although he doesn't have Nate's driving abilities. No assists in 30 minutes??!!
I think Holland is a guy who needs to be handling the ball to be effective.
Very positive game for at least 3 of the people we are counting on, and Roberson is someone who will probably get a call to training camp, I would think.
