Posted by VDesai:Then what Gallo said on the ESPN 1050 interview was probably true - that he is assigned to the other teams leading scorer. Gallo was guarding Holland most of the game from the highlights. Also, Gallo was doing a pretty good job staying with him and putting his hand in Holland's face. Just that Holland was hot and the rest of the team wasn't doing anything. Also Gallo played very focused defense. He didnt slack off. That Holland is on our rookie league team means a lot - in many areas. One, we may have scouted him and Holland may be able to play in the NBA. Two, he may be with us , verus another team because he knows and played against Gallo. Three, it gives Gallo someone to play with whom he is familiar. The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

I actually thought Galinari did a decent but not outstanding job defensively in that highlight video. He got a hand in Wafers face in just about every shot attempt. for the most part it was just Wafer making tough shots. I'd only be alarmed by that video, if Gallinari were putting no effort into defense like Curry, but he was.

Galinari got used up by a good, extremely hot offensive player who led the entire league in scoring, and has been playing professionally for years and is 7 years older and more physically mature.
SHOCKING!!!!! Can we undraft Galinari? Is it possible? Pretty please? Jeez. oohah Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Who won the game? OOha makes a good point about age and his scoring prowess in the league in which he lead. |

Posted by playa2:I don't believe that. I think Gallo's statement holds - that he is assigned the other teams best scorer. And we see from the video that he did indeed guard Holland who is the league's top scorer.Posted by Markji:Posted by VDesai:Then what Gallo said on the ESPN 1050 interview was probably true - that he is assigned to the other teams leading scorer. I'm even more impressed with Gallo now. I mean really! A 19 yr old kid who is the best player on his team and he's showing no fear and pretty good tenacity against the league leading scorer? What the freak is wrong with some of us? That kid had a hand in the guys face on a few of those shots and that's way more than what we saw from the Knicks last year!
Holland seems like he might be a good pick up, kind of like what Colangelo did in getting Parker back from overseas. Sometimes guys just develop later than others and Europe is good for them. He could easily replace any of the non shooters on our roster. If we let go of James there's a roster spot right there. |

Posted by nixluva: I think Gallinari has a chance to be a good offensive NBA player--maybe like a Hedo type. But the only thing this video shows me is that he is limited in terms of where to play him or who he can guard because of his legs athletic ability and agility. He doesnt have the legs or the agility to guard pro 3s so it will be his responsibility to take th other teams 4--the problem will be whn the 4s on the Duncans the Boozers etc.. so the Knicks will likely fall even further back in terms of D and will have to make up the points on the other end. RIP Crushalot😞

Posted by BRIGGS:Posted by nixluva: I don't know about that. Delonte is a 6-7 guy who seems like he'd give anyone some problems and yet Gallo was able to stay i front of him on some of those plays. He's not giving me the impression that he can't guard these guys. For one thing his length should allow him to maintain a good distance so that he's not so easily beaten off the dribble. I just think he's young and needs to learn better defensive technique. Very few players even in the NBA are great defenders, so he's not required to be a stopper IMO. He just needs to be solid on D and not a matador on D, which from what I saw he doesn't seem to be. This is gonna be an offensive team no matter what his D is like. So yes we're gonna have to have an efficient and potent offense in order to win games. With this team i'll be looking not at points allowed, but Point Differential. That's what will be most important for this team. I felt that Isiah destroyed what should've been an explosive offensive team. His decision not to add any shooters was mistake #1, adding Zach without any clear plan for how we'd use him and Curry together and then his poor coaching was another problem. This was and will continue to be an offensive team. We have to hope they can play enough defense to win games with their offense, much like PHX. That's the reason for adding a Duhon who isn't turnover prone. We have to be efficient. |
