Interesting article. Everyone talks highly of how Gallo handles the pressure.

it really is encouraging to hear this stuff about him... i hope he can develop that killer instinct in crunchtime for us & take some pressure of Jamal to take all those last second shots... if we have a clutch perimeter shooter to pair w/Jamal & Nate it will make a lot of things open up for Curry & Zach down low as well & help spread the floor for Jamal to penetrate.

What I expect out of him is an impact-type rookie the way Kevin Love Eric Gordon Brook Lopez Russell Westbrook Jerryd Bayless all will be. This isnt an 18 year old coming out of HS--this is a 20 YO professional basketball player who has MUCH more experience than any one drafted in the top 10. He had way more experience than Dirk. On a 20 win team I expect the 6th pick in the draft to be able to seriosuly compete for a starting position. I think that what you will see is the top 10 picks in this draft will be starting from day 1 OR will have a big time role on their team.
---> I can pretty much guarantee you that a couple of the guys you list won't be impact rooks.

Please let me in on it--who wont make an impact from the guys I mentioned?

Love, maybe Gordon, maybe Bayless.

wow you dont think kevin love will make an impact? I wouldnt bet that one. eric gordon on that depleted Clipper team is going to score points and Bayless was the steal of the draft.

Bayless might have been a steal, but who's he gonna get these instant minutes from? Brandon Roy has 35 minutes inked in. Then you got Sergio and Webster who will get playing time. This isn't a give me for Bayless.

Don't forget they just signed Rudy Fernandez away from his Spanish team so you can bet he's going to get a ton of minutes too.

No, Love is the one I most think is gonna make an impact. Lopez won't and will be in foul trouble all year as he tries to become as physical as his brother, Westbrook has a lot to learn. Gordon and Bayless could be alright.

You just spent the last 2 weeks arguing about how much Gallinari sucks and now you want him to be an "instant impact" rookie? Isn't that really so you can tell us how much he sucks for not making an instant impact?

You said Marcus Williams was a lottery talent and the best player in the country, but you preach patience for him. Bynum stinks for 2 years but you preach patience for him.

But for some reason Gallinari has to make an instant impact.

But you're certainly not unique in that respect. NYC fans always are more patient and sensible about what they expect from players who are not here. We should call this exhibit A on why it sucks to be a rookie in NYC.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

i agree w/playa... u can't expect all these top picks to make an immediate impact in the NBA in their rookie year... many very good NBA players took some years before they broke out & gained major roles playing for their teams, whether they were starting or not... you have to look at their individual situations & who they have playing ahead of them on the teams that drafted them... some kids will get much more of a chance to break out early than others just because of those factors alone & not necessarily because they're any more talented than the others taken in the top 10 in their draft class... Jermaine O'Neal is the prime example... yeah he was picked straight outta HS but it took him 5 years in the NBA before he was given a real shot to compete for a significant role on his team... by that time the guy was 22 years old, 3 years older than Gallinari is now... why does Gallinari have to prove himself right away when the same expectations are not held to other NBA stars?
