please, don't ever use Reggie Jackson & Stephon Marbury's names in the same breathe... they don't even begin to compare... Reggie had a huge ego but the difference was he delivered when the team needed him to in big games... when the hell has Marbury ever stepped up to deliver for this team? he's a classic example of a guy who's mouth wrote checks that his body couldn't cash... Reggie was the complete opposite.

Now now, TMS, let's be fair. I totally remember that one game that they needed him to hit a big shot and he botched the play. But, he offered the team a pair of Starbury's for only $14.98. That is clutch!

You must be talking about that missed free throw, that lost the game. To me, that was the turning point, no going back play of his career. That just said it all.

I remember that night pretty well. Some posters were blaming Kenny Smith for predicting OT because he thought the 2nd free throw was going in. It was pretty pathetic for those posters to blindly support Marbury, while others clearly knew who's fault it was.

He is going to Miami where Pat Riley can re-invent him !!

PG = MARBS
SG = WADE
SF = BEASLEY
PF = MARION
C = DOESN'T MATTER !!!

Thats a 55 + win team !!!
When opportunity knocks, make sure you open the door !!!

That's a 55 win team without Marbury. If anything, they'll be worse with him because Steph, the loser he is, will actually think the show is ran around him.

If Flip Saunders gets back into coaching with an NBA team, I could see Marbs going there- that is I think the only scenario.

Marbs can still play, but I think good teams will be very wary of him coming in and doing what he's done everywhere else. I think only a team with vets and a history of winning could absorb him. But the younger teams, I'm just not sure. Maybe he performs well and keeps his mouth shut for a year and really helps a team. But marbs has shown that he can only do things in spurts and normally reverts to his old self again
I just hope that people will like me

it's funny but off the top of my head i can only really remember 1 instance when Marbury won a game for us w/a clutch shot, that fastbreak last second layup that he knocked down vs. Okur & the Jazz, & that had just as much to do w/D Lee's outlet pass as anything else... there may have been other instances but i don't recall... i can probably remember a lot more times he's missed a FT in a clutch spot, or made a blockheaded T/O to cost us the game, or passed the ball off to a covered teammate instead of taking the shot himself when he had an opportunity to do so... for a guy who's had a history of shrinking in the big moments he ran off the court after that made layup to win the Jazz game proud as a mofo with that "what what" look on his face as if that erased all his other past failures... seriously the guy disgusts me more than any other player on any NY team that i've ever rooted for... but i'm just a racist hatter.

Im thinking if you pay him the minimum he sulks, he sulks at a max contract, he gets coaches fired, and his teammates hate him.

I can see him in Denver where Karl likely wants to get fired and keep his money.

somehow The rockets make sense as they took in Francis and John Lucas can work with him on his drinking problem.

Drinking problem? If he don't got one now, he should!

Golden State Warriors to replace B Diddy.

We should try to trade Marbury for a young player or a second round pick. They have the cap room to absorb his contract. Though they'll probably just wait for us to buy him out.

i'd like to see him go to the Spurs & play for Pop, just so i can see his face after Pop reems him out in front of his teammates & he goes to sulk at the end of the bench w/a towel over his head.

Warriors is a good call, but we really don't know just how unlikable he is as a teammate.

Warriors likely would wait until he is waived. Its one thing to take him at the vet min, another to actually pay him 21mil!

Marbury in Nellie system will do wonders for his career.

"His friends say Marbury isn't worried about future employment if released. The Celtics would be on his radar, considering they need point-guard help and former teammate Kevin Garnett respects his game more than anyone. But on another level Marbury would be devastated at not getting a chance to reverse a tragic 2007-08 season where he played in just 24 games. Marbury lost his father, Donald, and lost his father figure, Isiah Thomas, in a feud that started in November, and his health, succumbing to another ankle surgery.

Nellie is extremely desperate after losing out on Baron. I agree that they'll probably wait us out on a buyout. Although, one advantage of trading for him is that you definitely only get him for one year if you trade for him. If he takes a buyout and hits the market, he might want a three year contract that would screw up their cap for 2009. The Warriors may be more inclined to take him on for one season rather than screw up their cap situation past 2009.

Also, if they want to unload Al Harrington's deal, they could do a Harrington for Marbury swap, they have the cap room to absorb the difference.

Nellie's not desperate. He's only got one more year on his own deal and doesn't plan on re-upping. After this season, he's off to Hawaii.

Isn't that why Nellie would be desperate for one last run? I'm sure he doesn't want his last year to end outside of the playoffs. I would think that Nellie thinks he can get something out of Zach for one year. He could care less what Zach does after his one year with him.
