What we should do:

Trade Zach - this is top priority. Even if this is all that happens it's a good summer.

Settle the Marbury situation: Either play out the contract and let him play his way so you get the most out of him --- or buy him out. There's no middle ground with him so you either put it on his shoulders or you get rid of him. There should be no "oh but what if LeBron wants out of CLE in February and we have that expiring to make it work!" scenarios to worry about.

Buy out Jerome James.

We could do the right thing and buy out Malik Rose as well.

If that were our summer we're headed in the right direction.

*********

Then what you do is work on building Curry's value back up. Let it be the Craw-Curry show again for a while and dangle both during the season for trade.

If all we have come next summer is the kids, Jeffries, QBrick, one of Crawful or Curry --- hey, that's a fantastic start!

Structure a buyout with Zach Randolph
Sign David Lee
Sign a PG for two years
Find one project player in the SL--likely from the PG position
Try to work a medical hardship/buyout case with Jerome James because of his foot
No trades

I would tend to dissagree with you...

- I don't see any chance of a Zach buyout this summer -- he's too talented and they'll either trade him or try to make something out of him
- there's 0% chance they resign David Lee this summer (why do this before they have to - his value isn't going to go much higher but it could drop)?
- Yes - I agree that we'll sign a point guard to a 2-year deal
- summer league will NOT produce any surprise players for our roster
- I suspect they are trying to work something out with Big Snacks
- Yes a trade will be made this summer and I'd bet there is more than one. I say that either Lee or Randolph or both are dealt this summer.

I didn't say it would I said it could.

- injury
- playing time
- poor play

Right now most folks around the league still believe D-Lee may have some additional upside in his performance but if Lee fails to boost his performance this year folks may simply view him as a maxed out (in terms of upside) player and his perceived value may diminish around the league. This happens quite a bit when players pass on offers only to regret it later - see Ben Gordon and the deal he turned down last year.
