Seriously, some of you guys have the same rap: Going absurdly fast and endangering lives is no big deal. Murdering animals is sport and should be legal. Prostitution should be legalized, etc etc... No offense, Solace, but if you want to live in a society that doesn't allow its citizens to initiate change in the rules, or even talk about it, please go form your own. This is a democracy.

That being said, I do agree that 106 is too fast. 55 is ridiculously slow, but if everyone was doing 106 on the highways, it would be a death zone. 75 is a reasonable limit.

I find it comical as I said that if this were Michael Beasley or even Eric Gordon who got caught doing this it would be blown to proportions but since it's Rose the Golden Boy it's awwwwwww no big deal I've sped before, he's only 19.

I mean LOL the media was making fun of Beasley getting all on him because he likes to play practical jokes on people maybe a little too much but here we have Rose being a potential menace to society and the apologies are running rampant.

A few comments:

1) Er, that was two posts that talked about going 75. I never commented about going 75. I certainly go faster than 55. The acceptable limits are generally 10-15 over on the highway and 5-10 over in residential. 106 is way way excessive. The only reason why the limit isn't raised is because people already exceed the limit as the norm. If the limit was raised to 75, people would be going 95.

2) Secondly, if you want to discuss changes for this society, that's one thing. However, confusing that with what the law currently is, excessively breaking the law, and then claiming that no harm was done is clearly wrong. That's been my problems with the these arguments. A few of you guys (not necessarily you, Panos) really live in your own world. As a general comment, to think 106 is not excessive is incredibly immature and dangerous. Derrick Rose is an ******* for doing this. Period.

3) People going too slow are as dangerous as people going too fast.

On what road is the speed limit 55? In the areas where I drive, usually on the highway, outside of urban areas, it is 65. When it is 55 it is usually because of road surface / grading issues or it is an congested area with a lot of exits/entrances.

Also, FWIW, gas mileage gets worse as you go faster. At $4+ per gallon for gas, I'd think that might be a consideration for most of us (Not Derric Rose, or course.)

LIE, Southern State Parkway, Northern State Parkway. I think for parts of the Grand Central Parkway, it's even actually 50. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but nowhere on Long Island is there a 65.

I'm not upset. I just don't like using that word in the wrong context. It's offensive to me and my family, cause we have someone in our family who has that condition, and we've always affiliated ourselves with people with those types of disorders.
