It's a business to those who play the game and understand, It's only a game to the avg fan.

Bynum is a loser, mark my words. This guy is immature, greedy, and will eventually be considered a bust.

bynum's agent asking for the max makes him an agent i want to hire. he's doing his job.

and it says bynum was willing to take less...it was his agent that jumped in and said "hold up."

this contractual stuff, imho, doesn't reflect who bynum is as a person. it's part of the business. ask for the more than you want and hopefully someone is stupid enough to give it to you.

how did the yankees get arod when he was signed/sealed/deliverd to the red sox? by cashman just picking up the phone and asking for him.

IN the plantation his body might have not gotten injured going from HS to pro.......

In any event, he is what he is and the word is potential. The kid is 20 and will take less than max. His agent is SUPPOSE to try to get the max for him.

Im really blown away by the money Arenas and Brand are looking at with the injuries they got. Achilles heal used to be a career breaker. No lift. He is really coming all the way back from this?

Arenas last two years have been messed up. He gets Allan type money?

Granted these are tried and proven players, and I think the unspoken rule is when you sign a deal with an opt out the real reason is so the incumbant team can resign you for another max deal. I always contended that Allan had a handshake deal with the knicks that if he opted out they would max him.

I like are not players for any of these guys. We have contracts to shed, players to develope, and systems to install with a new coach.

Potential-Gerald Green

Bynum was becoming one of the most dominant big men in the league when he was hurt. He wasnt leading the league in FG% after 2 games but half a season. He was showing his potential in year 2--realizing it in year 3.

LMAO at Bynum demanding a max contract extension... prove something in the NBA before you ask for the big bucks young buck.

It isn't Bynum it's his agent who asking for it. Sounds like Bynum would settle for an All Jefferson type extension but his agent says no way Jose.

This hilarious the guy has maybe 30 good games in his NBA career and now his agent is talking max contract this is why the NBA is a joke along with the tons of other horrible contracts out there.

Pretty much, they need to change the whole landscape of the salary cap. Stop allowing players and agents to hold teams hostage. Like Arenas in Washington and now Bynum with LA.

His contract is going to be based ALL on potential. As good as Bynum's potential is, he could easily only develop into nothing more then a 10-10-2 guy.

I don't know how the incentive structure is in the NBA but thats the type of deal LA should work out. He could be able to make up to max contracts if he reached certain incentives.

If you all really knew how much "Jack" the owners are making , then you would understand why they give young players so much money. It's an investment!

I cant say I know him all that personally then a few correspondances on Myspace with him before the 2005 draft, his Myspace page, and stories Ive heard from Pat Riley and other players on the team. The kid is dense and all about himself.

You know if people actually knew what to do with all this money they get they wouldn't even need all that money.

wow--i don't know what to say to this --let's start off by saying he plays for LA not Miami and leave it at that.

bynum probably needs to prove he can stay healthy, but if he can he is obviously worth this much money. still, i think the lakers wait a year to do this.

I dont know if I'm willing to cast dispersions on Bynum as a person, he still is only a kid.

I just need to see more before I'm willing to hand him 80 mill. I haven't completely bought into the the hype.

I'd give him the money but I'd make his contract incentive laden based on games played. If he stays healthy, I'm pretty sure this kid is 15/10/2 at a minimum and he's only going to get better.

actually, no... they got ARod cuz the Player's Union wouldn't let ARod reconfigure his contract & take less to get traded to the Red Sox & that trade got voided... Cashman randomly asked about ARod's availability in passing while discussing another topic & TEX was willing to talk trade.

anyways i'm well aware this is a business... it's bad business to give players that haven't yet proved themselves to max contracts... those who follow the game understand this.
