hinrich is making like 9mm a year--i guess no lebron if we make that deal

Unless you are expecting to just let Lee and his salary expire, it realistically does not add to the cap.

Jared Jeff - 6.8M
Lee - At least 3M?
Hinrich - 9M

In some ways you are right--the Knicks best bet was to get a pick for Lee last night for salary control purposes--perhaps that was the 15th pick and chalmers gig? now they have to basically take that salary on just to get somewhat= value. If they throw in Tyrus Thomas atleast it would be palatable.

Isnt Ty the guy we gave them when they swapped picks with us?

If I was doing a deal with Chicago that involved Lee I wouldnt finish it off without including Thomas. Remember Chicago isnt in the best bargaining position right now and we HAVE to replace Lee. Tyrus would be awesome in this system.

I am with you on that - seems highly unlikely.

Also - dont you think Chicago is a little bitter over the D'Antoni thing? Why would they even consider trading with us? Unless you think that has no effect.

Lee is value. Moving Hinrich to make room for Rose is also value. That's all I can come up with.

If we dropped JJ2 from the deal they probably would, but then that messes with 2010. Honestly though, for all the power forwards they have, David Lee would be the best one if you considered production and up side.

Maybe they would like the idea of Lee and Rose playing together, it's obvious they are kind of a rebuilding team again.

Yeah, Paxson is garbage, just look at the wealth of young talent Zeke practically handed to him, in addition to cap relief. Also Zeke took back his undesirables (Curry, Crawford) All that, and the Bulls have regressed as an organization. Amazing!

no way CHI will want fishlips... they'll ask for Malik's expiring along w/D Lee for Hinrich at the very least.

The bottom line with the Bulls--they have way to many guards who also will be making way to much money.

Lee is an upgrade over Thomas but Thomas has upside value playing in an open system. If they acquired Lee there really is no room for Tyrus--it really would be a tale of two teams who need to meet in the middle for need. But I would not deal Lee and whatever for Hinrich staright up--I would demand Thomas and walk right away and wouldnt look back if he wasnt part of it. Hinrich is only OK with a big contract. Lee is a leading NBA PER player.

If we can get Tyrus Thomas, why not. But I think Lee for Hinrich is good for us and them. Lee's a special rebounder and shoots a high percentage of easy shots. Hinrich is a better shooter and a better defensive player. We still do need better perimeter d as well as a pg who can see the floor.

I would not accept a deal without Thomas--if they go this way be firm. David Lee is a leading PER player in the nBA and avery high character player--Hinrich really struggled this year. I would rather keep lee @ C with Gallinari now here but that seems impossible. Giving up Lee for less than premium value--and lets be fair Tyrus Thomas is just speculative value and Hinrich was pirse poor this year--they should also be required to throw in some kind of pick--but I would live with hinrich and thomas to get out of this jam.

I love Hinrich's game. If the Knicks can get him for Lee they should do it regardless if Thomas is included. Hinrich is similar to Lee because he is smart, has character, and plays the game right. Chicago might not want another power forward so this trade might require a third team.

The more I think about it the it seems Hinrich is proabaly the point guard we should get. We wanted Westbrook, Hinrich is a taller player, plays D and probably is as good of a point guard as westbrook will ever be at running a team. Basically you trade off Westbrooks speed for Hinrichs shooting.

Absolutely no to Kirk Hinrich. Hate his game

I see people here saying he had a down year this year... He shot 41.4% this season. His career FG%? You got it, 41.4%. This is what he is. Plus, he will turn 28 early next season. 4 more years left on his deal. All for a guy who is going to shoot in the low 40s, play some defense and be a decent at best distributor. He'll be in his early 30s by the time the Knicks are good enough to matter again.

He's a great jumpshooter though, he has shot 37% percent for threes his whole career. I don't think he can get his own shot that well, but Hinrich can shoot the ball.... everybody knows that. He'll be 30 when we are trying to convince LBJ we are a title team right now. I think Hinrich makes the most sense for the knicks are their plans.
