I was watching both the draft and MSG coverage of the draft.

When did they say this? I've been watching since the draft ended, and all the two of them said was that if DG is a 4 some of the other 4's like Randolph and Lee might be shopped. They didn't say anything about Lee not fitting or various sources in the segment I saw with the two of them.

During their draft show with Al.
The one that's been replaying since 12pm est? Cause they sure didn't say anything like that in this replay.

i don't get this either... how does D Lee not fit into a run & gun style? he's the best finisher on the break on this team & he's a great passer off defensive rebounds to start the breaks... he seems like a very good fit to me.

Not for nothing, but didn't Lee excel in the Rookie-Sophomore game a couple of years ago, which was all about running and gunning?

I seriously think that they targeted Lee as their best trade option and after he single handedly destroyed the trade for Memphis' 5th pick, the Knicks got all vindictive on him.

Nope, that is an edited version. The one with Al Trautwig, Deb, Gus and Breen.

the argument about getting back at Lee doesn't compute to me... it only fugs ourselves by talking ill about our own guy... that can't be the reason.

& yeah, D Lee was the MVP in a rookie soph game when he teamed up w/Chris Paul & he got most of his buckets on putbacks & fastbreak dunks... he seems like a natural fit in a run & gun style to me.

I think that deal was real. Why all a sudden is DG a 4 tonight when he was mention as a point forward up til today. I learned tonight that Walsh thinks he is 6 10 and still growing and could be 7 feet.

even if the deal was real it still doesn't make sense for the Knicks to get back at Lee by telling other teams he's a bad fit for this system... that only hurts our chances of trading him for an equitable package of talent... doesn't make sense at all.

Well to be fair Gus Johnson said that what several people in the organization (front office) told him. Maybe Gus slip but they continue the conversation with Breen agreeing as well. As I stated he said it as a matter of fact which shock me. I don't know how independent MSG. BTW at least they are being open about it.

i don't see how this kills his trade value. he doesn't fit NY's new system. whoopty do. its not like he is some guy they had stashed under Marbury's towels for 3 years. Lee is a known commodity. Quite sure there are other teams out there that look at what Lee does and would deal for him.

not being able to play D' Antoni ball doesn't mean he is not a jewel to the 29 other coaches who don't share Mike's approach to winning.

that is true but it may create an unamicable situation which could effect future trade discussions. probably also means that lee is definitely gone.

its almost as if the knicks thought a trade was going down and gus was providing the spin on why he was moved.

looks like d'antoni is putting a heavy premium on perimeter shooting ability.

This is garbage.

D'Antoni said he wants players that can make quick decisions with the ball.

What other player on the Knick squad can make quicker decisions on offense that don't lead to either their own horrible shot or a turn over?

Zach? Zach has glue on his hands.

Crawford? His idea of a quick decision is to drive and toss the ball off the back board to himself.

Nate?

Marbury?

No one fits D'Antoni's system better than Lee, and I will truly be turned off if Walsh & D'Antoni basically downplay Lee and trade him.

I'm down with trading him - I'll miss him- but don't tell me your trading him because he doesn't fit. Be honest.

Why are they singling out Lee for not fitting the system? If Lee doesn't fit there's about 6 others that don't as well

Exactly. That is the perfect comment for the Lee nonsense.

If Lee doesn't fit because he can do everything but shoot from deep... how are you feeling if you're Balkman, if you're Jeffries, if you're Mardy, hell even if you're Q?

Why are there no comments about Nate. Isn't he in the same contract situation and possibly more valuable in MikeD's system?

What are we going to do about resigning him if he shows he can run the point in this offense? He'll rack up some major stats if that's the case.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
