LOL!

I think I might be able to accept this only for the simple fact it surely will solidfy us with the #1 pick in the draft next yr.

Also D-Cups better hope they pull any of these trades off because you know now Lee and his agent are licking their chops right now if he remains a Knick next yr. Knicks would have to park him on the bench because you best believe it's a 100% lock he'll be playing for stats next yr to get the Heck Out Of Dodge after hearing his name come up in all these rumors after he's been nothing but a Company Man player who's expressed on numerous occasions he'd like to remain a Knick.

This rumor is so comical not because we're giving up quality assets but because none of our dead weight is accompanying Lee in this rumored trade discussion.

As we can see nothing is really changing with this franchise. The D'Antonio Sabato Jr. hiring told us this.

uh.... it's a rumor.

ROTFLOL! Uhhhhh Ok sure I know just like the Memphis one was too huh? The difference with this rumor vs the others is the fact there are some Red Flags but I'm laughing it off right now.

6: Westbrook
13: Randolph
27: CDR

i think i would cry.

If they take Gallinari--

It could go like this

1 Rose
2 Beasley[shipped to seattle]
3 Mayo
4 Bayless[shipped to Miami]
5 Love
6 Gallinari
7 Augustin
8 Alexander
9 Westbrook
10 Lopez
11 Gordon
12 Randolph
13---the pool--atleast to me would be Jordan Mcgee or Koufus because we need a big man my bet is the Knicks would take Koufus because he has that very nice jumpshot and his play seems to match what we are doing.

why are you so sure they're taking Gallinari at six? i really don't buy it. i think as long as westbrook is there at six, he's the pick.

heck, gallinari may fall to 13.

Danilo Gallinari: Grizzlies at 5, Knicks at 6, Nets at 10, Blazers at 13. Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace has been making a lot of discrete inquiries about Gallinari, who wowed them in a workout in L.A.

lol, the grizzlies gm is my new favorite gm.

Wallace was so impressed with Gallinari's workout in LA over the weekend that 3 days later he's intrigued with giving up the 5th pick for David Lee?

Interesting!

that's just a GM trying to maximize value out of the pick, i wouldn't read into it... if he thinks #5 is too high to take Gallinari (& it does seems like the other top 4 teams are not interested in taking him), then it would make sense to trade down a few spots & still get him later if u think he'll be available... i don't see how he'd get past NJ at #10 tho... maybe there's a deal in place w/NJ? they've been linked w/Gallinari too but maybe not necessarily because they wanna take him for themselves?... the Knicks are the team they'd probably have to worry about if Gallinari is the guy they want, but maybe they already know Walsh is set on taking a PG & won't let Westbrooke fall past them at 6?

Wow. First of all screw David Lee man. I'm totally with Izybx and Joec from the other Lee post. "I'm not playing for Memphis..." Fuck you man. Who the hell does he think he is - Michael Jordan with a no trade clause? I've maintained right from the end of last season that this team needs to move David Lee to improve the team's future and I've never been more in favor of it than right now.

He's a decent player and obviously has decent value. This Lee to Memphis for #5 is extraordinary value for us. I want that to happen so badly. This other thing I'm hearing now with Portland (#6 David Lee and another player to the Trail Blazers for the 13th and 27th picks and a player, possibly Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack) is not good value for us however. There's no way you give Pritchard Lee, #6 PLUS another asset (who knows - Nate, Balkman??) for this package and not even get back Sergio Rodriguez. Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack? No thanks. You can keep those guy Pritch. It's just way to much and way to complicated. Lee for #13 and Sergio. I can maybe even be convinced that #6/salary filler for #13 and Sergio could be a good deal also. But this rumor about all our assets going to Portland for this much lesser package is completely laughable....

You guys are crazy with all of this FU Lee stuff. If his agent DIDN'T send that message to Memphis, he should be fired. That's just the reality of it. Who would want to play there? With an owner and management that just sold Gasol for nothing?

if this is true...and right now it's gossip, then it probably means that alot of teams want lee so he can kind of be a little picky in this situation.

This better be one sick joke of a trade rumor. If this trade happens the way Beck wrote it, I'll personally burn down MSG with Dolan, Walsh, Isiah and D'Antonio still in it. It doesn't make any sense.

By HOWARD BECK
Published: June 26, 2008

After early speculation that the Knicks might move up in Thursday’s draft, the latest indications are that the team is in discussions to move down.

According to executives with two teams, the Knicks are discussing a swap of first-round picks with Portland. The Knicks would send the No. 6 pick, forward David Lee and another player to the Trail Blazers for the 13th and 27th picks and a player, possibly Steve Blake or Jarrett Jack. (Portland is acquiring the 27th pick from New Orleans.)
The deal could make sense for the Knicks if they believe that none of the players they want will be available at No. 6. In a deep draft, they could acquire two useful players instead of one, while perhaps unloading an unwanted contract. Blake or Jack could fill their need for a point guard.

Lee was also reportedly dangled in a proposed trade with Memphis for the No. 5 pick, a sign that he is not part of the Knicks’ long-term plans.

Lee’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, said Wednesday night that speculation involving Lee did not mean the Knicks were trying to move him, but that other teams were trying to acquire him.

“There are a lot of people pursuing him,” Bartelstein said. “He’s a very valuable piece and he’s the most valuable piece the Knicks have.”

Lee’s lack of a reliable jumper makes him a poor fit in Coach Mike D’Antoni’s system. And he will soon be eligible for a major contract extension, which would clash with the team president Donnie Walsh’s goal of trimming the payroll.

If the Knicks keep their pick, they are likely to take one of two guards, Russell Westbrook of U.C.L.A. or Jerryd Bayless of Arizona, or the Italian forward Danilo Gallinari.
I have to believe that this is just faulty reporting at its finest.

yup

NEW YORK – The Portland Trail Blazers have intensified discussions with the New Jersey Nets about moving up into the 10th pick of the NBA draft with intentions of taking Texas point guard D.J. Augustin, league sources told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday.

The Blazers would send the 13th and 33rd picks in Thursday’s draft, along with guard Jarrett Jack, to the Nets. New Jersey also would send guard Trenton Hassell to the Blazers
Portland has had discussions with several teams about moving up in the draft, but a deal with the Nets appears to the strongest possibility now.
As long as the New York Knicks pass on Danilo Gallinari at No. 6, the Nets still believe the Italian forward could be there for them at No. 13. If not, they’d hope one of the Lopez brothers – Brook or Robin – slide down to them. Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe is intrigued with West Virginia forward Joe Alexander, too.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

yeah, I don't get why Beck would even suggest this type of deal. Lee can get the #13 straight up (or better) and #6 <> #27 and Jack.

Hey I feel bad about saying that a little. Lee's a nice role player and seems like a good kid too but there's just something about a reserve forward on a bad team putting the kibosh on this potential deal (that, along with pick 6, makes us a whole lot better instantly) for the no. 5th pick in this draft that burns me up man. I mean did Javris Crittenton kill the Pau Gasol deal? Lee's buddy Channing Frye just got traded to Portland and I bet he didn't like that too much at first. You think Patrick Ewing wanted to get traded cross country to Seattle at the end of his career or you think he really wanted to retire a Knick? It happens... You see where I'm going a little bit with this right? I mean say you work out on the Island for your company for a few years, everything's great you're comfortable, then all of a sudden and they decide to pack up and re-locate the office to Manhattan. Now your 10 min. commute is suddenly an hour and a half... What do you do now? I tell you what you do----if you wanna stay with the company, you suck it up and buy a car that's cheap on gas or get ready to ride that damn train in every morning. Or you look for a new job. It's a little different here, granted, but the same principles still apply. David Lee---it's part of the business my man. Guys get traded all the time. And you're not good enough and haven't been around long enough in the league to get yourself a no trade clause bro. If you get traded to Memphis you suck it up and go there until your time's up. Then when you're a FA you pick where you want to go. And if you can't deal with that then quit the NBA and come back to reality and get a real job like the rest of us. What he's doing (and it's probably not intentional but still) is denying the Knicks a great chance to better themselves and as a DIE HARD Knick fan that's all about this team getting better and moving forward, It's upsetting.

Let me ask this. Go through his history.. can anyone name one trade where Walsh was screwed? I mean the worst outcome was the Bender trade because he couldnt stay healthy. Walsh always gets good value and even more importantly good FITS.

he's also never traded a draft pick. i don't think you can go by history. he's realistically never had this much pressure and attention on anything he's done. welcome to the ny pressure cooker, donnie.
