He looks better in this tape than others--perhaps the length of the tape. I was much more impressed than what I originally viewed. The two videos I had previously seen he appeared much more stiff--in this tape he looks fluid and more athletic. He does have a very nice handle for a guy his size with a very nice offensive skill set. He has a very nice long-range touch but also has the intermediate package and dribble-drive abilities.

Yeah. He makes those hustle plays Kukoc didn't and Manu does.

At 19 he is playing in a league better than most college div 1 leagues. and he is getting it done!

Since we are comping him to other white players, why not Dirk? Dirk is not "athletic". Dano is 6-10 and has a pretty good handle. As he fills out he can move over to the 4 spot if power takes his quickness.

Diaw with Heart, Josh Childress, Tay Prince-minus the lockdown D, Granger, Caron Butler minus the lockdown D.

He reminds me of Mike D'Antonio. Great Italian League player that couldn't make it in the NBA.

But, Danilo struggles athletically, as he is neither quick nor fast. He has stiff legs and will likely struggle on the defensive end of the floor.

Furthermore, Gallinari doesn't rebound well, which suggests that he could become a one-dimensional player.

While Gallinari can be a solid NBA player and is more NBA ready than most, his upside is limited and taking him within the top 10, as he's expected to be, he is one of this year's overrated prospects.

I hear you on this and I see the same thing when I watch Gallinari play -- the stiff legs.

That said - I've heard some guys that I respect (Fran Frischilla) absolutely rave about Danilo. Someone just put out a 10 minute tape on the kid and he shows you alot. He seems to be a mixture of Hedo and Dirk. He has the ability to handle the ball, put it on the floor and get shots off. I don't like his quickness at all but at the same time the kid can play and he appears to be a very intelligent and schooled player for a 19 year old.

You also have to consider - can you take him and improve his conditioning, quickness, etc thru a strict diet and exercise regimen. I mean the kid is creative with the ball in his hands, he has a nice stroke, he appears fearless and all I hear is that he's a great passer. You have to live with some of the downside because otherwise you are looking at a super star.

Listen, I'm not saying I love DG and I want to draft him, I just don't get how we can beat down a player that NONE of us has seen play in a game. I mean how much can you base off youtube highlights. I'm taking a wait and see approach with this kid, whether we draft him or not.

I dunno. This is what nyk4ever posted over at RealGM:

That's kind of a concern too. I mean, with the college guys, you know that guys like BRIGGS have seen them play. With the Euros, it feels like a crap shoot. All we have to go on are YouTube clips. You can make anyone look good by taking their best moments and putting them on YouTube. And you gotta admit, the Knicks have not done all that well with Euros. All this makes me feel slightly negative about DG.

OTOH, it's not like I really care all that much. After eight years of generally awful and sometimes baffling draft night decisions by the Knicks, I can't get too excited about it one way or the other.

Haha. It's tough with these foreign guys (for the fans atleast.) I mean you atleast figure the GMs do their homework because they go overseas to watch the kids play, but fans don't have that luxury, which is pretty much why EVERY foreign guy that gets drafted in the lotto gets ragged on by the teams fans. It doesn't make much sense. Just wait and see.

Dirk for Tractor Traylor.

Milwaukee's Blunder!

Kiki takes NayNay and Skita passing over Amare twice.

But Carmelo falls into his lap!

It happens, eventually teams make mistakes and blunders.

I like taking chances as the upside is there. It makes it fun when one team sees value, or gets lucky thru the draft.

Lampe and DLee were essecially the same pick.

The Director of NBA Scouting (don't know his name) is on Mike and the Maddog with Russo and loves Gallinari. He think he's going to be able to contribute right away and think his game will translate to the NBA quite well.

I think the bottom line is he's a 6-10 kid with a lot of skills. If they really have a convinction about him--it's a direction and Donnie Walsh has been an excellent draft picker. If we do get this kid I would like to keep david Lee.

I agree Briggs. I honestly know nothing about this kid other than the his height and weight and he's from Italy. I really don't want to watch youtube highlights and try and make conclusions on them, it just doesn't make sense to me. If Donnie thinks DG is the goods then I got no problem trusting him.

I will say, if this guy thinks DG's game will translate well into the NBA then he should thrive in D'Antoni's system. Who knows, if we draft him then I'll have a VERY close eye on the summer league games to see what this kid can do.
