Not sure I would do that... open to it yes. It comes down to how much waltoni values Mayo. Lee is a lot of give up for him, especially when you consider we are moving to an uptempo system. How about we just keep Love, and sent Lee to the Nets then draft Westbrook? Love is a banger with an exceptional BB IQ and is regarded as one of the best passing bigs in years. Doesnt that seem like a good fit for us?

If I offered you guys two scenarios and you had to pick one what would you go with?
1) draft Love and trade Lee for an extra pick to draft Westbrook
2) draft Mayo and use Lee to move up to get him

I would love either move...but the thought of seeing DLee in a Nets jersey is enough to make me sick.

I could see a NY & Minny trade but I don't think it would be Lee and #6 for just the #3.

If Minny is willing to talk trade with NY with guarantee they won't take Mayo -- that's an indication that they aren't crazy for Mayo.
In my mind that brings the price down for the #3 pick just a bit.

I could see something like -- Lee, Balkman and #6 for the #3 and Corey Brewer.

If I'm the Knicks I don't give up my (2) best assets (Lee and #6) just to move up 3 spots.

I don't either. I'd do it for the #1 pick though.

At this point I'd look into trading down. Westbrook will be there at around 10 and other good players will fall even further.

... not sure how I feel about that. I think Mayo is being overrated by a lot. And his weird attitude freaks me out already.

But, there are reports that Riley liking Mayo was merely a smokescreen - he really wants Beasley. Reports are Minnesota loves Love. Obviously the Knicks love Mayo. Reports that Minnesota is open to trading the pick. The only real borderline wildcard that needs to happen is Memphis selecting Lopez over Love - and reports are they like Lopez.

I'm thinking Lee + Love for Mayo is going to happen on draft night.

I guess I don't get some of the thinking here. Why does Riles need to create a smokescreen when he has the #2? I guess I can see why Minnesota would want to squeeze a little more out of the Knicks to get Love and whatever by selecting Mayo (if they think NY will even take Mayo), but that puts them in a big risk position by giving another team a chance to nab Love.

Riles smokescreen was to not tip his hand to the Bulls about which of the big two he wanted.

Like I said, the only wildcard is Memphis and supposedly they like Lopez, but who knows what they're thinking. after that Gasol trade I don't think anyone can claim to understand Memphis.

why would anything riley says effect the bulls? the bulls have the #1 pick, they control their own fate. if anything, he's trying to guage the market for the #2 pick and see if a team that wants mayo will trade up for it.

I think Riles wants Mayo and he doesn't want to let Beasley slide past without compensation. In the end if he gets mediocre offers I still say he let's Beasley drop. Minny and Seattle have nothing to offer him really but Memphis does.

I think Riles has to ask himself...

Mayo + Marion + Haslem >>>>>>>>Beasley + Marion + T.J. or Beasley + Marion + Miller, Lowry

The Bulls are going to invite Beasley back afor another workout and from what I'm hearing so far they like Beasley.

I think what will happen as far as Top 3

1. Beasley
2. Mayo
3. Rose

No way Beasley does not go 2nd. He defintely a 1A type pick. Does that mean Miami will end up keeping him--I think they will--hes better than Mayo.

not moving up a spot, grabbing the #5 while holding on to #6?

What reports are you reading? Everything I have seen says Memphis is taking Love or Randolph.

I figure if I could come out of this draft with Love & Westbrook or Mayo & Randolph then I hit the jackpot.

I think Love is going to be a strong producer at the PF spot for any team that drafts him.

I still don't buy that Riley envisions a Mayo/Wade backcourt working. they're so similar.

I think he wants Beasley, may have been trying to hide that fact from Chicago so Chicago didn't get cold feet about Rose if they were taking Rose. We'll see, I guess.

Imagine Curry with an very good outside shot, a very good passer out of double teams, an excellent outlet passer, a strong rebounder and a smart player. That's Kevin Love. He does a lot of things very well.

he has nowhere near the explosiveness or size of curry. they're very different players. that said, i think love is a better player, but still, very little in common. love is 6'9" in shoes and can't jump. he is far more skilled though.

I see a guy who is too short to play center and too slow and stiff to play PF. Although he can shoot, his game is around the basket. He doesn't have the explosiveness to finish strong in the NBA and he's too short with no lift to get his shot off in the paint.

I would have huge reservations about this guy at all, much less moving up to get him.

i don't think anyone is talking about moving up to get him. we're talking about the wolves moving down.

he's not explosive, but he's not slow. i agree that i don't think he's athletic enough for the nba elite though.

You can't just go by what Love did at UCLA anymore. He has lost weight and has been said to look very quick, has looked good running the floor and all that.

For a center he might not be slow, he'd be about average, but for a PF in the NBA he's much too slow.

He can't jump? He's too slow, too stiff? Take a look at the stats on draft express. There were two measures for jumping - one standing and one running. And there was one agility and one on running three quarters of the court. Love beat Anthony Randolph on three out of those four and tied him on the fourth.

Well it sure doesn't translate to how he plays which is decidedly under the rim. He doesn't get much lift on his shots in the post and he rarely finishes strong at the rim. He measured out at under 6'8 in socks. That's really short of a PF and not nearly tall enough to be a center.
