a healthy Bynum & the addition of a defensive stopper like Artest combined w/Kobe would give them a much needed defensive boost... they should trade Odom's expiring & Jordan Farmar for Baron Davis also... that's a team that needs to go all in for a title now while their window of opportunity is there.

C - Bynum
PF - Gasol
SF - Artest
SG - Kobe
PG - Davis

what?

Cha-ching!

Baron Davis would indeed be a superb addition in the toughness dept, dunno how PJ thinks of him though in combination with the triangle.

But seriously, move Odom and move up in the draft to grab Richard Hendrix (or someone like him)

I'll never forget that East Finals (I think it was '04 as a matter of fact) when Detroit was facing Indiana and Ron-Ron was guarding Rip. Rip sorta pushed him off and he reacted how most people would react in a pivotal Game 6: he forearmed Rip in the face. Flagrant - Pistons go on to win the series.

Rodman knew when to reign in his crazy. I don't know if Ron-Ron does yet.

How do you think they're going to get Artest who's isn't opting out. What trade for Artest do you have on the table? Please don't say Luke Walton and/or Vlad for Artest. The Kings would want Odom's expiring if for nothing else they could use him as another trading chip come deadline while unloading more salary. Actually Odom and Miller might make a good frontcourt tandem because they both can pass very well.

A tandem of Calderon, Odom and DinoBosh sounds interesting.

they should go after

a) josh childress. he is a player and has the skillset on both sides of the ball to be that lynch pin small-foward in the triangle and may be available onsidering the hawks have smith and marvin to pay

b)tay prince. if Dumars wants to dump sal and go bigger at small forward with odom after seeing lebron and pierce overwhelm the thin man with their size in successive years

Lakers don't have to do anything, just wait for Bynum to come back.

Getting a PG who can run an offense better than Fisher would help. I see Fisher more as a 6th man. But I think that if they did nothing other than wait for Bynum to get healthy (and if he does return 100% healthy), then they'll be in outstanding shape.

The Lakers definitely should try to improve at pg. I think they need to think seriously about their defense. Prince would be a huge addition. Bynum coming back healthy will of course be a big help in that respect.

If you have Bynum banging players hard down low, I don't think people will even notice the fact that Gasol is soft on defense.

I think Calderon and Bosh are the only players LA would want for Odom and I don't think LA should trade either of them for Odom.

how do u know Artest won't change his mind if he sees an opportunity to go win a title in LA? he's always said it's not about the money, he does it because of his love for the game... what better reason to play the game than to win a championship? Kobe has already said he wanted Artest on his team a couple years ago i believe... he would provide that toughness the team is currently lacking & Kobe would have someone to watch his back... put that team together w/Baron in the backcourt & Artest, Gasol & Bynum in the frontcourt & you got yourself a well balanced team that has a ton of weapons... teams wouldn't be able to lock down on Kobe the way the Celtics did in this series... i think that team would be a powerhouse & a lock to make it to the Finals again next season.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

He'd still be soft but....he wouldn't be tasked with being a defense anchor.

I don't see much wrong with the Lakers. All they have to do is come back healthy and add a bench piece or two preferably at the point and there's no reason why they can't repeat as WC champs.

I don't know why some think they need to have a fire sale as if it's the end of the road for them.

They should trade Gasol for Marion and Odom for Hinrich&Gooden. That's the kind of team Kobe needs.

Bynum
Gooden
Marion
Kobe
Kirk
