I Like TJ Ford also but not for the 6th Pick in the draft, Why not just pick a player with no injury issues and try to sign a PG.

which high caliber pg is readily available?

d'antoni w/o a pg = not good.

You do what Danny Ainge did. You draft one giving up the lottery pick to dump salary. If you come up with a way to acquire while dumping salary and allow us to draft a point guard (Augustin) then fine.

but dumping that pick just to get rid of Zach is OK? You make no sense man

I don't want to pick up an injury risk player without dumping salary while giving away our pick, what's so difficult to understand about this. You make no sense man.

I think Ford is an impact player we should look hard at getting. He missed 30 games last year but was durable the previous 2 seasons. At 25 years old he is certainly poised to break out.

However I am not trading that pick. Tor has two guys the cant keep, one (Ford) is owed a lot of money

I would offer Crawford or Malik straight up.
I would offer either and Nate for Ford plus pick #17

If they dont bite no problem

ford got hit really hard this season by horford. horford used a complete swing of the arm and came down hard on tj's head. and he still came back from that. i think his injury risk is worth the risk...

Only if we dump some salary. He's been down two times in 4yrs on his butt sorry we need a little more in deal.

dumping salary means getting less talent back. Thats the wrong direction for a 20 win team. Adding salary for talent makes more sense. TJ Ford is bigtime talent. If Tor wants to move him for Malik or Crawford your have to make that move. Its a no brainer for this team

We'd be dumping some contract value but not real salary per say as far as coming off the cap in 2010/2011. I would possibly consider this move but i'd also be willing to do this as far as the goal I'm try to achieve

I'm following the same line of thinking Fish.

I'll gladly trade Craw or Malik for TJ, but not that draft pick.. no way no how.

No way we get T.J. get rid of Jamal and shed major cap for two yrs. We get the point guard to run D'Antonio Banderas' offense and gain about $14mil in cap space come 2010/2011 and draft a player like CDR at 17.

I'm no big fan of Jamal but his trade value isn't far off from TJs...

T.J. Ford is probably worth a Top 10 pick Jamal isn't, is where I have their value. The trade isn't bad at all. Are there possible better trades yes there are but it's definitely doable.

You sure Isiah hasn't stolen your laptop?

Isn't that why we're in this mess to begin with?

malik + #6 for tj + #17

he's got a longterm contract & huge health concerns... the only way i make a move for him is using Zach, Curry or Jefferies in the deal.

as long as u keep our debates to basketball & lay off the personal digs i got no problems w/u or anyone else dude.

if we could unload 1 of those 3 contracts in a deal for Ford i wouldn't even mind moving down in the draft to do it... i wouldn't mind a Jamal for Ford deal either for that matter, but i would want TOR's pick to make that deal, cuz the risk of him getting injured again is high & the last thing i wanna do is bring in another immovable contract on our books to add to the collection unless there's extra incentive in it for us.

You can't make that move. Ford was almost forced to retire last year. He has a degenerative problem in his back and is one hard foul away from retirement and possible paralaysis. Ford is a risk and to take him you need to give back a guy who is a risk or is flawed in some way. He would be a nice temporary addition. He will only play a max of 60 games with his health concerns and is not a long term solution. He might be ideal if the Knicks got a guy like Westbrook and Ford helped him learn the position.

+1.

I'm not giving up much besides players like Curry, Randolph, or Jeffries for a PG who won't turn this team around with Joe Shmoe numbers like 12 & 6. Not to mention he's a huge health liability. And he's had 2 career threatening injuries now if I'm not mistaken. Last but not least, as a guard he's got absolutely no range on his shots. He's a 31% shooter from beyond the arc in his career.

Sorry DJ, this is just another "one of those" who don't come close to turning this team around.

you almost certainly need someone with equal talant on your roster.

here's a trade i would love to make w/TOR:

Zach, Jefferies & the #6 for Ford, Nesterovic's expiring, Parker's expiring, Jamario Moon & the #17

the dollars work out on Trade Checker, TOR gains a rebounding presence & moves up in the draft, while we jettison 2 of the worst contracts off our books while opening up about $15 mil in cap space in a couple years to offer a max type contract to someone we can really build this team around for once... & if Ford pans out & doesn't reinjure himself even better.

try to follow that up w/a Marbury for JO & #11 trade (throw Chandler in the deal if you have to) & you can end up w/a competitive team right now while also putting us in a great position cap wise in the longterm.

C - Curry
PF - O'Neal
SF - Parker
SG - Jamal
PG - Ford
6 - Lee
7 - Nate
8 - #11 pick (Alexander or Gallinari)
9 - Balkman
10 - Q Rich
11 - Moon
12 - #17 pick (McGee, Greene, Batum, Thompson, CDR, etc.)
13 - Mardy
14 - Malik
15 - Rasho or Turd (buyout the other)
