Dumars loved Darko, and joked that he was so good when they worked him out that he wished he was on the roster right now to help them on this playoff run. Chad Ford was spackling himself over Darko too and wrote that crap about him possibly being the best player in that draft

I find it funny that after the darko pick, Dumars drafts players(AMIR, the kid from UCLA and Jason Maxiel) that fits exactly what he's trying to do.

Also I find it funny Flip is hired(known as a loser) after the great Larry Brown, but now I hear he's gonna hire someone Curry as the head coach. LOL

Seems to me someone whispered into Dumars ears on who to draft(darko) and who to hire(Flip). In both of these cases after they failed he went back to hiring somone who fits in their system and in Curry's case someone who knows the Larry Brown system.

Solid reports now out of Detroit have Pistons assistant Michael Curry lined up for the job. But the Pistons have apparently covered their bases if that doesn’t work out by contacting the representative of Woodson, who was the lead assistant on Larry Brown’s staff when the Pistons won the NBA title in 2004.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

tayshaun for josh howard
sheed for camby + filler

Id keep Prince. He might just be there best player.

Sheed for Camby makes sense, but If im Detroit, Rasheeds ability to spread the floor with the 3, play back to the basket, and guard muliple positions in the frontcourt with strong man to man defense is vital as well.

Id say they should gamble by moving Billups for Camby in a 3 team trade probably and look for a young PG like Chambers or Lawson in the draft to go along with Stuckey.

I am not saying it was a fluke at all, but it was almost a perfect storm, A great coach in larry brown, with a playoff ready team in the pistons and a laker team that had two of the leagues best players in a bit of dissaray. Kobe and shaq were feuding and their bench with malone was aging and injured, and not as talented....

This is revisionist history. Lakers tore through the playoffs, and not a single person expected the Pistons to beat the Lakers. Everyone thought it was a fluke that they even got that far. People thought it was a fluke even when it was over.

Thank God. Finally a voice of reason.

They also got past the Spurs, the supposed standard bearer on this board. The Lakers easily beat the Spurs and people talk about how the Lakers really weren't that good despite the Spurs winning the title the year before and after. The Lakers were playing at a very high level that year but Larry Brown and his Pistons played better and earned that championship. It's asinine to downplay their accomplishment.

If a supposedly declining Lakers team could get past the Spurs, then why couldn't Mike D'Antonio's Suns? People constantly absolve the Suns for not being able to get past the Spurs (or Dallas for that matter) to get to a Finals but Brown's Pistons championship is tainted in some way for beating a Lakers team that cruised past the Spurs? The logic around here is baffling at times.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Here is a salary dump trade for us...Curry and Malik(expiring) for Rashweed(expiring) and Amir Johnson..but that means we cut our loses with Curry and only have Amir Johnson to show for.

It was a fluke. The Pistons destroyed the Lakers in the playeoffs 4-1.

They beat them by 12pts game 1, 20pts game 3, 8pts game 4, 13pts game five.

The Pistons were not better then the Lakers that yr let alone THAT much better then the Lakers to beat there ass that badly in the finals.

The pistons went to game 7 vs the Nets that yr and I think it came down the the closing seconds. Were the Nets better than the Lakers to.

Lakers for what ever reason just didn't play hard at all in the finals. They didn't play as well as they played the Spurs the round before. Kobe wasn't Kobe, Shaq wasn't Shaq. Tyshaun Prince got the best of superstar Kobe Bryant that alone was a fluke.

Larry Brown deserves a ton of credit for having them hungry & motivated and capitalizing on the tank job the Lakers pulled in the finals. I will keep it real and say even with the tank job the Lakers pulled not many coaches would have been able to pull it off other than Brown and a hand full of other coaches. Brown brought Pacers, Philly & Detroit to the finals Lakers gave him an opporunity to steal one unlike Spurs & he took it.

Brown is also yet to beat the Spurs in the playoffs with Tim Duncan on it.
