How about we let Marbury's contract expire and sign someone like Matt Carroll to the LLE or part of the MLE. As a spot up shooter, Carroll would fit with his 44% shooting from 3 pt range.

You're saying Carroll as an example correct? He has a long term deal with Charlotte. He has 5 more yrs on his contract Hoopshype just doesn't show it. Carroll signed a 6yr/$30mil deal last summer with them.

I thought that he signed a big deal. I guess I shouldn't rely on Hoopshype for salary info.

The overall point is that you can find decent shooters for a lot less than what Redd is going to make and not keep weighing down your salary cap situation.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Geez what move is good enough for the Knicks? If the best shooter not named ray allen isn't good enough who is?
Its amazing. This guy is a bad locker room presence? He makes a lot of money. We are the Knicks. Payroll shouldnt matter. Winning games should.

Unless your clinging to your Lebron fantasy the guy is a heck of a player

Oh really? If he's a "heck of a player," then why are the Bucks wanting to dump him?

It's actually 41% lifetime. But still very good. Right now we need good ball handlers, improved defense with whoever we draft, trade for or sign. Carroll is not a bad idea. If we did sign him, it couldn't be more than one year, with a team option for 2010-11.
I'll never trust this' team again.

sidetrack - i think carroll signed a 5 year $18-20 mil deal with the 5th year being an ETO.

trade eddy for ridnour.
trade marbury for redd + 2010 #1.
trade malik + lee for artest.
trade #6 + jeffries for #11 + foster (s&t 3/$30)
draft augustine/westbrook.
sign kurt to 2 year MLE.

ridnour + redd + artest + zach + foster w/
augustine/westbrook + crawford + q/balkman + kurt off the bench

Agreed I was clarifying and that's how I took your commentary overall. Throw in players like Kapono, James Jones, Martell Webster, Eddie House, James Posey, Jarvis Hayes, Daniel Gibson ete etc.

I don't think it was quite 30 mil, more like 24-26 mil on a sliding scale like the Bulls did with their signings. And Matt Carroll is not someone we need anyway. Dude is a horrible defensive player, a terrible ball handler and not a very good passer. He can shoot, but thats about it.

No it was a 6yr deal.

I was a little high because I rounded up

___________2007-08___2008-09___2009-10_____2010-11__2011-12____2012-13
Matt Carroll $5,450,000 $5,050,000 $4,700,000 $4,300,000 $3,900,000 $3,500,000

The sixth yr is an ETO not sure if it's the team or Player. I assume it's Team.

Interesting. A terrible ball handler? From what I seen on his stats, he's averaged about 20 min a game and has virtually no turnovers. Well under one a game. As a matter of fact, it's .77 per 20.9 minutes.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Well, I think he was trying to come up with a scenario, for when suckbury's contract ends next year. We need to fill the void for another year after that, to protect our chances for flexibility for cap space. I don't think we want to make a major signing after next season and tie up the money again. If not Carroll, then who do we sign until 2010-11?
I'll never trust this' team again.

Isles was just giving an example of finding a player who does one thing well who isn't paid Max money. No one is crying over not having a chance to acquire Matt Carroll. If we want shooters we don't need to go after someone as albatross money wise as Redd.

If we go after Redd, we're gonna have to sign or trade for a guard like Chris Duhon, b/c we'll need someone to get him the ball on a consistent basis.

Sign an undrafted player. Sign a Euro. We just need HARD WORKING young players who we can mold into D'Antoni's system. This is where good gm skills and scouting come into play. All the good teams are able to find players off the scrap heap.

I would trade Marbury and some fluff for Red's two year contract and plug in Nate or Crawford as our starting PG (if we don't make a run at TJ Ford for expendable pieces).

I said it then, when the bucks gave him that deal, they would regret it real soon...

Redd has 3 years left and Nate/Crawful are not starting caliber point guards. That would be a HORRIBLE backcourt.

The article clearly says that he only has two years of salary left.

Bucks feeling out interest in Redd
Posted: Wednesday May 21, 2008 08:20AM ET

In the last week, several officials from both the Eastern and Western Conferences acknowledged the Bucks have been gauging the interest other teams may have in some of their players. The most notable one is All-Star shooting guard Michael Redd. Redd is unquestionably the Bucks??? best player, the one who would bring back the most in a trade. However, while Redd is one of the most prolific scorers in the league, some teams are reluctant to take on his sizable contract. Redd will make $15.78 million and $17.04M over the next two years, respectively.

That is really a terrible trade.

Awesome. Let's help Milwaukee get cap space and destroy ours for Michael Redd.
oh right.. I forget, we are getting Lebron and Wade in 2010.
Dude, there's about 20 FAs in 2010/11 and 2011/12 who are better than Michael Redd.
