HELL NO! give up cap space AND the higher lottery pick for the most overrated G in the NBA? i don't think so.

Baron easily won 7-8 games for G.S., this year, by HIMSELF.

It's not that he's not a good player. It's simply that he is a system that fits him perfectly in GS. In a lot of other situations, he would not seem nearly as impressive. On the Knicks, it would be a terrible fit.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Terrible fit if the Knicks just add him and stay the same with the force feeding Curry and zach while Craw chucks.

D'antoni is gonna open up the offense and get guys moving as a team. Donnie is gonna make the team fit around what D'antoni wants to do. You gotta believe that's true........so if the Knicks are even thinking about Baron(I'll admitt its not likely) they have a plan to move guys and get some better pieces to run with Baron....within D'antoni's system.

this is a no brainer. get one of the better pg in the league for a coach who he would flourish under is a given. plus he is off the books by 2010 is great. davis's big issue, health, hasn't been a problem the past couple of years. give gs the cap room instantly they crave and its good.

Baron would want an extension. Thats a given.

At 29 with a history of being a diva with back trouble, and loaded with an extension sounds like BaronBury II.

Granted, Baron is everyting at 29 that Marbury was suppose to be but he really only has one nice run behind him. He does step and Shoyt over everyone in his path, but he is a physical monster who relies on that athletic ability to get it done. Any degredation of that will make him mush less.

Its a starphuch anyway you look at it.

I'd pass and make a run for Monta Ellis.

He can want an extension...that's fine, but if there's not a market for him to get it, he'll be SOL & playing for his next contract (hence, he'll be motivated). And by the way, Ellis is their building block going fwd...him Wright, Biedrins etc. You're not getting Ellis.

Get Baron for Marbs, call it a day.

This is a watchable team, until LeBron hopefully comes:

1st unit:

Baron
Craw
Chandler
Lee
Curry

2nd unit:
Westbrook
Nate
Balk
ZNo (unless we can dump him)
TBD

with JJ1 cut, JJ2 & QBrick perma-bench

I agree for the most part, but a couple of changes
I think an athletic defensively talented center makes it possible for ZBo and Curry to be much much more effective. Westbrook doesn't make us that much better to me if at all.

1st unit:

Baron
Craw
Chandler
ZBo
Jordan

2nd unit:
Curry
Nate
Balk
JJ2
Mardy
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Ok now we know for sure that Newsday gets their info off of Ultimateknicks.com, lol.
Could Baron Play Point For Knicks?

May 23, 2008 - 8:29 am

Newsday -
The Knicks will undoubtedly be shopping for a point guard this summer, and Baron Davis might be an unexpected option for Donnie Walsh and Co., according to a report in Newsday.
A person with knowledge of the situation revealed to Newsday that Davis has been inquiring about the interest of teams in his services, with the Knicks listed as one of those teams.
Davis has an opt out clause in his contract, but he isn't expected to exercise it. That would leave a sign-and-trade as the lone option for New York should they pursue acquiring him.
The Knicks don't have cap space, but enough room could be freed up if Walsh can find someone to take on the monstrous contract of Stephon Marbury , which will expire next summer.

I saw Texas A/M play this year. Unfortunately, I did not see much of Jordan (b/c he was riding pine), but he has the very reputation we need to avoid in this roster renovation. First qualities we look for are work ethic, heart, intelligence. No more lazy ass big men. We also want basketball skills. Jordan has none.

Baron can opt out now. Marbury has another year.

Why would the warriors want Marbury???

Baron will not opt out now. For all intents & purposes, he has 2 years remaining. They'd want Marbury to save 16mm (the extra year of Baron's deal vs. Marbury), then use the savings on Biedrins, Ellis extentions.

Baron is once again like many other NBA players, they used the big money paying newyork knicks as a bargining tool. YAWN
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Supposedly Ellis likes New York too we're being used as usual. It recently worked for D'Antoni and many others in the past and everyone sees this.

I love Baron and he's to bring a winning spirit when healthy but we have to exercise our limitations if we're looking at a situation where a player is bargaining for a lucrative contract. If we would make something work in our favor sure make GSW an offer for him. It has to be something other than just Marbury.

Except Baron is an awesome point guard....and he isn't Marbury. Not to mention the Knicks are in an awesome situation now to turn around the franchise. I say we do this......cuz TJ is not worth it, and Rose and Bayless are out of reach. Knicks still could draft Westbrook if they want. Remember Baron just has one extra year.

This is what he brings. Not the dunk....the balls. The crowd.....uplifting the teamates. Quietly going to the bench staying composed for the most part. Nate 5 inches taller with poise and control.

Davis wants an extension so it means we have to give him one? Screw that. Let him be a Diva and watch his salary come off the books in 2 years. In the meantime we have a very good PG, when he plays.

GS isn't going to let Ellis get away.

Make a run for the untouchable? Monta Ellis is gonna be a rich man thanks to Chris mullins.

Check it....they trade for Baron. He's not in a position to say "well I'm not going without an extension".....donnie will tell him like it is....he will play and he would probably have a ball. When the time comes to re-up....then the decision will be made.

2 year rental.....He's a damn good point guard still. As of right now I am begging for this trade....amongst others though....this can't be the one and only trade....If Donnie can get some other pieces in first then he should get baron too. that would be awesome!!!!!!!

I'd absolutely love to have Baron for the remainder of his contract and NO extension. Baron has been one of the most underated players in the NBA the past 2 years for the Warriors, he's probably won them 5-10 gameas a year alone.

Agreed. I'd be happy with a Marbury for Davis swap with no draft picks involved. Tell Davis that if he wants an extension from us or anybody else, he's going to have to play his ass off and prove that he warrants one.

A 2 year rental is exactly right. Next step is getting rid of Randolph and Curry.

Question is.....who can the Knicks get for Baron to pass to? Craw is a nice compliment to Baron, but they still need a true small fwd to pass to.

Mike Miller, Redd, Marion, Josh Howard, maybe even Richard Jefferson....there are some huge names out there that can come in and play with Baron. All those contracts work fine with 2010....believe it fellas this fix can be quicker than expected, without morgaging the future.

I'd be happy to see what Chandler has to offer, plus a healthy Balkman giving energy minutes behind him.

But I see JJ2 as BARELY an NBA player (maybe a 10th man) & QBack as a guy who needs to retire (he's clearly done playing the sport effectively).
