Any deal with Melo would have to be after July 1st. This is the date that his Base Year Contract expires meaning Denver does not have to take double Melo's salary.

BUT

As much as I hate Melo, this would be a trade that we should make if we can. Melo is a young superstar and this would be like jump starting Donnie's plan.

I know it debunks my LeBron hopes, but I kinda agree with this.

I just wanna know one thing?

What kind of problem do you have getting LeBron James to New York?

This is the perfect example of the destructive behavior of the common, hateful Knick fan. You don't want a superstar in New York???

He is not coming here get it through your head. I'm a believer of not puttting your eggs in one basket. Besides you are not going to entice LeBron with basically no teammates on the team. He is gonna demand a ridiculous sum of money that is going to constrict the Knicks more than anyone player in the league. You are going to have to start negotiations at 30 Million a season. Its unrealistic for the Knicks. Better to leave his ass in Cleveland and let him pretty much destroy himself there with a flawed team. Thats what is going to happen here.

It has been reported (without any supporting evidence) that LBJ's Nike contract doubles if he plays in NY, LA, or Chicago. So that rumor has to be taken into consideration, although we obviously can't bank on a rumor. And I'm not sure how the Knicks can pay him 30 million with the cap, but maybe you mean with merchandising?

LBJ, Wade, Bosh, whoever else that may be available should be looked at that summer. Having said all that, if the Knicks can acquire Melo NOW they have to... because the point of getting massively under the cap is to acquire a superstar, which Melo is.

Wasn't this the same rumor with Kobe.

I have no idea, but its not like the Knicks or the Bulls had a strategic advantage considering Kobe already plays in LA.

Just for the record 'yes, it was me pushing all the buttons for Kobe too'. No one can blame me for not wanting to go after the very best in this league.
I'll never trust this' team again.

D'antoni hopefully would have Melo putting his shots up faster forcing Melo to constantly attack. I hate to see Melo catch and pause. He needs to just go bang right into his moves like Bernard King and James Worthy did. Those guys were the best at simply catching and attacking the rim. Melo is on par with both and he should take advantage of his cat like quickness to the basket.

That's a good point. I remember the Knicks of the early '70s always doing that. When the ball came to them, they always did something with it - either shoot, pass or start their move to the basket. Those players never held the ball.

That holding the ball and making your move was a result of the Jordan era. everyone wants to be like Mike and they ain't.
