i fail to understand the logic. people say get more for Lee than Mike Miller but are willing to part with him for a fragile center with maybe 2-3 years left if that...

Camby may help in 1 area but Mike brings to the table shooting, an additional ball-handler and playmaker on the wing, rebounding, and is still relatively youthful.

most feel NY can get more for Lee than MM, fine, but a Lee 4 Camby swap is like the ghost of Layden past running the Knicks

Camby is a much better player than Mike Miller, & addresses our biggest need... Miller is not needed on a team w/all the scorers we already have (& likely to add another in the draft)

a Lee for Miller trade is an Isiah move if there ever was one if u ask me.

and David Lee will give you everything Camby will as far as points rebounds and hustle go for the next DECADE. in this case shot-blocking is overrated especially when you consider Marcus' age...

u wanna shot-blocking center...pay somebody like David Harrison 3 yrs 10 mil (2 guaranteed) get him a fat free foods coupon book and put him in the truck

as far as Miller not needed: who on this team 1-15 shoots and scores with Mike Miller's accuracy and efficiency plus has his court awareness and feel for the game to boot?

D Lee is not as good a rebounder as Marcus Camby if u ask me, & he's not even close in terms of defense & shotblocking... if u really think shotblocking's overrated after witnessing all the games we've lost over the past couple years because guys were free to drive straight to the hole w/no one even putting up a hand to contest the shots, that's your call... i won't convince u otherwise if you're stuck on that notion.

i love D Lee, please don't get it twisted, but to get a guy like Camby i'd make the deal... if anything DEN would probably balk at making the trade IMO.

I gotta disagree with you here TMS. I honestly have seen Camby take too many nights off, too many nights where he doesnt even show up. Couple that with his constant injury problems and I really don't want anything to do with him. Don't forget he's also 34.

I'll gladly take Lee over Camby. Yeah I know Lee doesn't give you shotblocking, but at this point right now, shotblocking isn't a pertinent issue since we're not going to be contending yet. Let's hold off a bit on worrying about shotblocking unless we get a complete player who also happens to block some shots.

Why in the world would you trade 24 year old Lee for 34 year old Camby when we are 3 years at a minimum away from anything relevant? Makes 0 sense.

Rose is expiring. Why trade Lee too? Lee needs to be paired with Curry or Randolph.

The only way it would make sense IMO for a team to add Camby would be if he were going to make them a championship contender in the 2 to 3 years he likely has left at top productivity.

If we do trade Lee, it should be for an even younger player or a draft pick.

Trade Curry for Ford.
Draft Jordan

I think it makes perfect sense. Why would DEN trade for a PF who is going to take another year or 2? DEN is in a win-now mode with Camby, AI, Melo, KMart... they aren't gunning for 2-3 years from now.

Actually entertaining the idea of trading Melo and/or Camby wanting A.I. to play out this yr to become a FA after next season, all signs point to they are no longer in win now mode. Looks like they are in tear down and rebuild mode. Acquiring Zach in no way helps either situation win now or rebuild. TMS has a hard on for K-Mart is what it gets down to.

If you are trading Lee with an expiring contract you better get something better than that.

I tend to agree although the trade's not bad McK1 - I like both Mike Miller as a player and the idea of getting another pick in this deep draft. So we're on the right track here.

How about this - I posted this the other day:

Lee, Balkman and a resigned Randolph Morris (in the $900,000 - $1,000,000 range) to Sacramento for Shelden Williams and pick #12.

Knicks - We turn pick #12 into JaVale McGee. Love his size (legit 7'), length, skill set and potential. Gotta give Briggs some love on this - he's been talking about this kid for a while now. This could be our center for the next 12 years. The kid's a late bloomer and obviously has some things to work on but the potential this kid has is just disgusting. Would make perfect sense especially if we wind up finding any takers for Eddy Curry. And we get Shelden Williams who slides right into the David Lee role. He's bigger and more rugged than Lee and much better equipped to guard the interior - one of our biggest weaknesses for the last few seasons now (legit NBA PF size/can play some C, can rebound and actually block a shot or two). The fact that Williams might be considered a bust at this point further intrigues me - we probably wouldn't have to pony up as much money to secure him as we would for Lee when the time comes as Lee's the more established vet between the two at this point. With playing time though (which hasn't been there for him yet) Williams could be a major contributor. The guy's got Antonio Davis/Dale Davis written all over him and those were two excellent role players. He just needs more than 10 mins. a night to show it. You don't become a star at one of the best college programs in America and get nicknamed 'the landlord' if you can't play, bottom line.

Kings - They get David Lee who we already know Geoff Petrie wanted from the beginning of last year when he was ready to deal Artest for him (reports at the time say that Isiah Thomas was the one that shot the deal down). Lee's smarts, energy, athletism, youth and double-double ability would be perfect for their aging frontcourt. It would give Theus the opportunity to rest guys like Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Kenny Thomas and Mikki Moore (assuming they bring him back) much more, keeping them all fresh for the stretch run & playoffs. Lee as a PF is better suited in the faster-paced Western Conference anyway imo. And they get Balkman who can provide more athletism and defense to a team already full of offensive firepower. Much like with the addition of Lee, Theus could now rest Artest more with Balkman on the court. And imagine what little defensive tricks Balkman could pick up playing with/practicing against Artest everyday. Scary stuff... Morris would just be filler at this point to make the trade work money-wise, but who knows, he could develop into something someday. The Kings suddenly become a much, much more complete team with this trade.

Any thoughts??

If I was picking I would take Mcgee 3. I know that is not the popular choice and probably all done now that we have a new system but I still think he is the player with the highest ceiling in the draft after 2--it doesnt seem that Dantoni likes 7 footers even though Javale can run. No matter what system you run --even small ball you still need a guy who can go up and get it in the post and your options for athletic big men who can run in this draft that are worthy IMHO of a high pick are Beasley Mcgee and Randolph in that order. I just hope they have their own thoughts and see what the players can do in the workouts. I read that Mcgee has been training on his own and up to 250 pounds at 7-1 and they were able to increase his explosion and tighten his post skills over the last 6 weeks. We already know he is fast for a 7-1 player but if he really did put on that 15 pounds[which we will find out in two weeks] and they ahev tightened up his game--I hope we atleast look at him[but Im doubtful]

I think in the end we will take Bayless which I will be reasonably happy with. He has a little tony parker in him

I doubt the #28th pick would be added.

They would probably want Lee for Miller and Rose would be cap filler. At that point Id rather keep Lee & see what we have in Chandler.

I like the Idea of trying to add another mid to late first rd pick though. I would target Robin Lopez. Who we could try and mold into a Tyson Chandler/Camby.

Wow. Great news on McGee. Fully prepared to deal Lee for an additional pick that puts us in range to get this kid. I'd like to read that article on McGee Briggs. Where'd you read that?

would u do Malik & D Lee for Camby?

I wouldn't. We are building for a club 2-3 years down the road and Camby will be on the downside by then.

Camby's contract expires in 2 years anyway... doesn't hurt our long range plans at all.

but Lee should net us a better asset or move a player with a bad contract... not just malik.

Exactly. This is a VERY sideways deal. Miller is fine, but an unproven draft pick for Lee and a big expiring contract?

No way.

I'm surprised at either how low Lee is being rated here, how high Miller is or an unproven late 1st round pick is here.
